1st OPM Songhits Music Awards
Do you remember ‘SONGHITS’?
That small booklet that contains lyrics and chords of your favorite songs? I’m not sure it’s still currently sold in the Philippines, but before there was karaoke… there was songhits.
The 1st OPM Songhits Music Awards brought that nostalgia back. Sponsored by Interview Magazine Inc. (which makes song magazines) and hosted by Christian Bautista and Marc Abaya, the event was held at Cinema 5 of Robinsons Galleria on December 5, 2007.
- Yeng Constantino garnered the top spot for Best New Artist, Breakthrough Artist and the Top 40 Song Mag Special Award.
- Sheryn Regis won the Best Female Recording Artist and the Texters’ Choice Award
- Spongecola was chosen as the Pinoy Song Mag Brand Awardee
- Spongecola’s Lead vocalist Yael Yuzon also emerged as the Best Male Vocalist
- Callalily won the award for the Best band and Song of the Year for “Magbalik”.
