Filipino Christmas Symbols: Part 1
The Christmas Lantern (or Star) in the Philippines we call parol is a Filipino Christmas symbol that we see as early as September. Usually colorful, they come in several shapes and sizes, but still resemble a star in some way. The parol actually symbolizes the bright star that appeared in the sky the night Jesus was born; the same star that guided the three kings to find their way onto that manger in Bethlehem.
In many Filipino homes, the parol is hanged on windows and doorsteps and is usually lighted at night to guide the lost and the wanderer (literally and figuratively) in the hope that they find their way home in time for Christmas.

i’ve seen such parols here in germany, made of capiz, and the prices are outrageous!
you should do a post on the paskuhan village. don’t they have the best and biggest parols?
capiz parols are expensive here too. 1000+ and up.
