‘Tis the time for weddings

June is almost here, and though it’s really NOT the weddingest month of the year (December is), it’s still traditionally associated with weddings. If you are about to tie the knot next month, then you should almost be ready, with only the details left to finalize. If not… well, don’t panic (too much) there’s help around the corner.

I got married in the Philippines, but was only physically in the country three weeks prior to my wedding day, although we did plan for a year. How did we pull it off? With the help of my mom, of course, and an online community of brides, grooms and newlyweds called Weddings At Work (W@W). This network and the website are an amazing resource of information, advice, ideas, tips, vendors - “everything you must know to get married the Filipino way”. I recommend this to everyone who will wed in the Philippines, or to a Filipino (man or woman), and as my husband and I proved (as thus a countless others I personally know who did the same) it’s possible and easier to plan a wedding even if you’re not physically in the country.

Says John and Benz Rana, the owners-extraordinaire of W@W -

We want to help cut down the couple’s time in the scouting process, braving the weekend traffic in search for their perfect supplier. Here, we let the mouse do the clicking & picking so brides have more time to attend to other wedding details while the groom budgets for their options. We present every wedding professional side-by-side and ultimately have the couple decide. We intend this site to be a virtual one-stop-shop for any aisle-bound couple…and for the curious, a site to showcase what Filipino Weddings are made of.

This community of brides and grooms planning their respective weddings at the same time as ours, and even those who’ve gotten married quite before us – all have been extremely helpful and friendly and made us feel like family. That we’re all in this together… Most of our wedding professionals were found at the site either from referrals or recommendations from other couples or vendors. They exceeded our expectations, and I must say, endured the big day with us too!

So have fun planning, and here’s to the Filipina bride!
