Filipino Swimmers Win 12 Golds

The 30th Southeast Asian Age-Group Swimming Championships held in Jakarta, Indonesia brought a crop of medals for the Philippines. The swimmers, led by Kendrick Uy, brought home 12 golds, five silvers and 13 bronze medals.
Several records were also set in the meet:
The 17-year-old Uy, set a new meet record in the 15-17-year-old boys’ 200-meter individual medley by logging a time of 24.52 seconds.
Palarong Pambansa veteran Nikita Dacera broke three Philippine records, the first in the boys’ 400-meter freestyle when he timed 4:11.52. He also took the 200-meter freestyle in 2:00.13 and the 1500 meter freestyle in 16:46.72.
Twelve-year-old Jasmine Al-Khaldi also stood out with three golds in the course of the three-day meet at the GOR Bung Karno Senayan Stadium from June 2 to 4.
On opening day, Al-Khaldi shattered the Philippine record in the girls’ 100-meter butterfly with a time of one minute, eight minutes and 40 seconds. In the following days, she went on to collect the golds in the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter freestyle.
