Pasalubongs, Part 2

After staying at my sister’s place, our parents have now come over to stay with us for three months (YEHEY!). With their personal belongings comes the much-awaited pasalubongs (meeting gifts) in balikbayan boxes, what else. Here’s a sampling of what they brough as meeting gifts-

Mama Sita mixes; my favorites – the sinigang, caldereta and Kare-Kare. My cooking probably will top this (at least that’s what my husband likes to say, :-) ) IF i have the time at all to cook such elaborate entrees. But I don’t, so i rely on the reliable Mama Sita mix to make my dishes authentically Fiipino tasting. Besides, where can one find fresh tamarind these days?!

Knorr Chinese soup, like the famous Nido soup and the crab and corn soup. Just add the mix to boiling water, drop in egg, swirl and there you have it, Yum yum.

Here are some other ideas for pasalubongs that are hit with the family: Goldilocks products like the polvoron and ensaymada (sweet brioche), Philippine dried mango, and of course, nothing less than the Boy Bawang cornicks.

Happy eating!
