Polvoron

polvoron

My father-in-law recently came back from California. He brought us loads of pasalubong. Polvoron tops the list. I don’t know what it is about this sweet treat. It’s always one of the most sought-after items for pasalubong. My parents brought a couple of boxes with them when they came. We always bring some back with us whenever we visit the Philippines.

Polvoron. So simple. So yummy. So reminds-me-of-my-childhood fun. There’s a game we used to play when we eat polvoron. The contestants put a piece of the treat in their mouths, and the first one who can produce a whistle wins.

My personal favorite is polvoron from Goldilocks. But the sweet is easy enough to make, if you have the right tools. Duyan.com has a simple recipe for “Polvoron from Bulacan”. Pinoy Cook has a chocolate variant.
