The MegaStar goes back to school

Remember “High school life, oh my high school life ev’ry memory kay ganda?” Well, you heard it right – the Mega Star is going back to school. But nah, it’s not high school but as Associate in Arts at the UP Open University, a UP arm which offers distance learning to students who can’t physically be “on site” for their education. After her AA degree, ate Sha hopes to continue with Hotel and Restaurant Management, for as she says:

“Ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved cooking, eating, entertaining. Anything to do with the kitchen and the home.”

Congratulations to her! I think it’s a big thing to want to go back to school at her age (shall I say it? Oh well – she’s just 40), and with her status as a celebrity. I mean, c’mon, she’s financially set for life, and her personal and showbiz accomplishments speak to why we call her MEGA. But in a nation that considers having a college education as both a privilege and a dream for most citizens, then maybe this is something that she considers her “unreachable” star. Well, she’s on her way to reaching it, and if the Mega Star will, maybe her fans will follow suit. And that’s not such a bad thing.
