The Pacman’s championship fight

July 2, 2006 is going to be an intense day for the Filipino people. That’s the day Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao squares it off with Mexican Oscar Cholo Larios for the mano-a-mano super-featherweight championship in Araneta Coliseum.

Aknowledged by boxing buffs as one of the best boxers in the world, pound for pound, the Pacman is heavily favored to win the bout. According to FoxSports, Pacquiao is reportedly going for an early knock-out because Larios “”gets better as the fight goes on so we are going to start early and jump right on him.” Larios on the otherhand has vowed to KO his opponent in the 6th to 10th round.

Oscar Larios flew in Sunday night. The two fighters will have a press conference this Thursday at the Discovery Suites and the official weight-in is on Saturday. To follow up on the days leading to this fight, click on the Manny Pacqiao blog.

I’ve always been a boxing fan, not a true fanatic of all fights but growing up with two brothers who love the sport had made me a discriminate fan as well. So it would be good to watch this one, and even better if PACMAN wins. So, ‘knock ‘em dead’, Pacquiao… (not literally of course, but go get that belt!)
