On a recent trip to Mt Apo, in the Philippines I had an opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary of the Philippine Eagle. It is located on one of the highest mountains in the Philippines just outside of Davao City. Nestled in this picturesque setting are other eagles, monkeys, deer, and one crocodile. A nice side trip if anyone traavels to the Philippines. I am surprised by the number of residents how few people have ever seen their native Eagle. Many people in the Philippines are aware of the eagle, but have never seen the bird. After 5 trips to the Philippines I am glad that I was able to visit and see the magnificant philippine eagle.

These are my rate for the largest eagles in the world:

1.Philippine eagle
2.Harpy eagle
3.Steller's sea eagle
4.White-tailed sea eagle
5.Wedge-tailed eagle

The first 3 are considered to be the largest as they varies
in different parameters like weght, length and wingspan.

These are the three largest living eagles in the world.

Philippine eagle-Largest in size or dimensions

Steller's sea eagle-Largest in weight or Heaviest

Harpy eagle-Largest in bulk or body mass

The most powerful eagles- a toss between the Harpy and Philippine eagles.

-Harpy has a thick legs and longer hind talons while the Philippine eagle has the longest tarsus (legs) and claws it can almost encircles a human neck and also has the broadest wings capable of more powerful lift.
