“Buy Filipino”
THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is reminding Filipinos to buy only Filipino or locally made products unless these products are substandard or priced significantly higher compared to their imported counterparts.
This presidential order (Section 22) that President Gloria has mandated as a regular feature of the national budget makes it compulsory for government agencies to purchase only locally made products, UNLESS the quality is substandard compared to its imported counterpart.
In theory, this is good government. Our local businesses will florish IF government agencies will purchase from them their office supplies, furniture, and many other items. We have a lot of competitive businesses with products that are of high quality, so promoting and patronizing them is good for the country.
Tangkilikin ang sariling atin! Buy Filipino.
