Bata’s pool winnings still not awarded
Already 24 days since winning the International Pool Tour World Open 8-Ball Championship, and yet Efren “Bata” Reyes still has to be awared his winnings.
The International Pool Tour (IPT) hasn’t yet paid Bata his $500,000 prize. In fact, the IPT still has to pay the other Filipino players as well.
Fifth placer Dennis Orcollo and seventh placer Django Bustamante, together with nine other Filipino pool stars, who saw action in the $3-million tournament, have yet to receive their prize money.
According to the Manila Standard Today, the IPT website has been inactive and inquiries were left unanswered. It seems IPT founder Kevin Trudeau is busy selling the company to Ho Interactive.
“The delay has been unavoidable due to a multitude of factors most notably the finalization of the IPT acquisition by Ho Interactive. I want to assure you that your checks will be issued very soon and simultaneously we will be formally announcing the exciting merger/acquisition with Ho Interactive.”
The Manila Standard reports that Efren Reyes isn’t worried because he did get his previous winnings from December’s tour. Still, $500,000 is a lot of money just hanging around somewhere.
Hope we hear better news from Reyes and his teammates later this week. They deserve it, and whether IPT is having some big business venture elsewhere, it’s just professional etiquette not to keep the players waiting for what’s duly theirs.
