Philippine Economy is Healthy

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has given the Philippine economy the verdict of being “relatively healthy”.
In its 2006-2007 report “Southeast Asia: Dynamic Opportunities for US Competitiveness”, the Washington, D.C.-based Chamber of Commerce report stated that “the Philippine economy has demonstrated considerable resilience, and investors remain optimistic about the country.”
According to Philippine Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa, the report “reflects the positive achievements of the Arroyo administration in its ongoing efforts to strengthen the Philippine economy through resolute fiscal and economic reforms and policies.”
The report also cited the Philipipne peso as one of the best-performing currencies in Asia.
I hope this positive report gets reflected in the daily lives of Filipinos, instead of just remaining as a citation.
The full report can be found here.

it is just that, a citation.
I hope the momentum builds up. Hoping that the Intelligent business people of Manila rally together to push the economy to greater heights. Asia has always been a good business spot for International investors. If Manila puts up with the consumer demands then things will go for the better.
gloria i’m sorry to hear that. i guess as someone who lives in the thick of the economy, you get to experience how well/poor the PI is really doing huh. but like Noypetes said, hopefully this report, for whatever it’s worth, will help push some good along.
sorry to u all but I don’t believe that the economy is doing well… the down of dollar to peso is only for the credit of denial queen gloria arroyo & her uto-uto na tauhan. Nanawagan ako sa lahat ng OFWs na gumawa ng action para dito dahil itong pagbaba ng peso against dollar is so unfair dahil hindi naman bumaba ang presyo ng mga bilihin… as if wala ng halaga ang dollar na ating pinaghihirapan. payag ba kayo na mawala na ng halaga ang ating pinaghirapan dto sa ibang bansa? Im afraid mag down pa ito hanggang 30php to one dollar…dyos ko…pano na tyo???
Danny, you are one of the pessimist who is dragging the country down. You have to work harder to appreciate what we have.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that when we say the peso strengthens, right away we will feel the strength of its value.
Also, it doesn’t necessarily means that when we say the economy picked up for straight 3 years, the “jologs” will feel it right away.
Be realistic and study more economics.
[...] In another positive sign of the Philippine economy’s outlook, a report on Bloomberg.com says that the Philippine government plans to repay its foreign debt ahead of time. The funds will come from a $1 billion sale of bonds. [...]
Most people are thinking that Gloria is not doing well in her Administration. Well, these people i could say are lazy people, coz’ most of them who doesn’t have the job, and doesn’t care to look up for a job.
As you can see, there is a big difference in time of Erap Administration and the present. Before it was a rapid fall of peso against dollar, and our debts continue to get higher and higher, but now, it’s a rapid growth of peso against dollar, and our debts gradually getting paid and with the other means as well which is in investment form (bond thingy).
So which one you will prefer?
Now, in my own opinion, it’s just right and proper that Pres. GMA will pull off herself in the crises she got from the opposition, coz’ it doesn’t make sense rather than moving alone with her plans for the betterment of the country. And we could see that transparrently, people don’t be too blind.
Everybody in the politics could have their own anomalies, but with PGMA, she has though, but she’s doing something that could make her people appreciate in such a way it will all turn into a good image in the eyes of local and foerign investors.
So for me, the hell i care about Oppositions allegations against her.
Go!!! PGMA
KuDos!!!
NO Comments….. I totally agree with you Lydecane.
Thank u!!! That’s all i can say…
I cetainly believe that PGMA is an effective president. To be frank, only statisticians, economsts, and other people who educated themselves enough with how the economy works understand the reality that the reported numbers are showing. During her regime, the economy has achieved the highest growth rate, which has surpassed the rates during Marcos’ regime. READ people, READ. Fill up you brains first before commenting negatively on her performance. The development is not felt due to a very obvious reason: CORRUPTION. I can also say that, many of the Filipinos are not hardworking enough and too lazy to find a stable job. DO something to feed yourselves; do not blame the government if your life is miserable.
