Longer Processing Lines at NAIA

Ninoy Aquino International Airport

The Philippine Department of Health has mandated stricter inspections of travelers entering the Philippines through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). These inspections, which are complement the thermal scanners which are already in place, are designed to prevent the entry of bird flu into the country.

“Meron tayong networking at ang World Health Organization (WHO) katulong natin, magbibigay pinakahuling ulat sa bird flu cases (We also continue networking with the World Health Organization and other countries to exchange information on bird flu cases),” (Health Secretary Francisco) Duque said in an interview on dzRH radio.

He said the Philippines is working to avoid being included in the list of Asian countries with confirmed bird flu cases.

It looks like we’ll have to bear with longer lines when we go home to the Philippines in a few weeks. I don’t mind, as I’d rather deal with some incovenience than become sick with the flu!
