I was not satisfied to the ending of Jumong, though it is only narrated that Jumong died at the age of 40 and Daesu was killed by Jumong’s offspring..it was not even mentioned if Jumong knew who killed his mother..the ending was perhaps short cutted to lessen the production..hope the korean producer would think of Jumong Part II…:)

Why on earth the they made the two lovers seperated and have their own families and re-marry Jumong at end? And conflict arise when Jumong real wife and son re-appear assumed that they die 15 years ago at war. Anyway good ending but it’s sad as Soseono needs to leave Jumong and the Empire giving way to Jumong’s real wife and son and Soseono’s desire to build a new country for their own people. Too bad as I want Soseono to her his queen … really!
hi, i like jumong very much! i did’nt buy a pirated one because i want to watch it in a t.v. in a tagalog dubbed in whole, thats why i dont beleive to the whole story and the ending that my other friends telling me. I want to watch it on my own and just wait for the ending even it will so spend so very long in the GMA. thanks and more power…!!
I also like soseono for Jumong, but that’s what was written in Jumong’s fate… At first, I dislike Yesoya coz I think she’s just a hindrance to soseono and jumong… but later on, i learned to love her character coz she’s so loving and kind… I like the ending though it wasnt even specified how jumong died… Did he die due to his wound on his left upper chest? It wasnt even included in the narration at the ending… Im looking forward for a sequel entitled YURI… What about this idea?! Till next… Jumong rules!
hi, there, everyone loves jumong. kapamilya always says that jumong is so boring. well for them its boring since they are on the other network, but come to think of it, we can’t deny the fact that we are entertained, amazed, and like the whole story. i am a certified kapuso fanatic but really gma 7 has the edge on airing certified hit shows that features good quality shows. like the hits jewel in the palace, let us admit that we learn and we learned from all those shows. Princess Hours is the boring one. But we are subject on each others opinions. But the fact that everyone is talking about Jumong, that explains that Jumongs captures and are capturing the tv audience be it young or old generation.
Its not an excuse to say that Princess Hours is gaining more praise from audience since they have many blogs. Not all people can create blogs.
Many kapamilya followers are also entertained and love Jumong. Still for me Jumong Rules and will Rule.

come to think of it. now there’s a korean movie invasion sa tin. Jumong, jewel in the palace, full house what else? couldn’t we afford to make this type of movie? they make like asian treasures and now filipino version of lupen type but my god… it’s really sucks!im talking in general kapuso or kapamilya. but the truth is napapagiwanan na tayo, no matter how they advertise it to the public na patok sa panlasa…totoo ba un? o talaga lang na wala ng mapanood… no choice sa pilipino cinenovelas.so when this foreign drama comes, pinagpipyestahan natin.

unfortunately, hindi komo’t mas sinusubaybayan nationwide ang princess hours doesn’t necessarily mean na makabuluhan ito. After all, what could be more tackier than a show only centers love/kilig moments, retardate comedic acts and senseless lq’s?
@jazzy…i know we are entitled to our own opinions. but let me tell you straight!
princess hours is just laced with royal thingamajig; but the inside content is really shallow. it’s purely kilig-centric…nothing else is substantial.
while in jumong, all you ever need is in this show: it inspires you, it makes you cry, it makes you fall in love, it educates you, it opens up your mind to the history, it amazes you with action scenes, it will give you some stomach pains thru their natural comedic prowess, it teaches you all about good manners/ art of war/ right leadership, and most of the scenes are relevant to our Christian Way of Discipline.
At btw….paano nga pala nanging cutie si Prince Gian?
it took me and my better half, sleepless nights to finish the dvd’s of JUMONG, it’s the BEST!!! i was never liking to watch movies of wars but this movie really opened my eyes of our beautiful history. if there is more than being the BEST, then that would be JUMONG.

Being a fanatic of Jumong I buy new dvd player with a set of wide screen t.v. including speakers and complete disc of jumong. My girlfriend love the story so much. In fact ive made this as a present for her. . .I love my Girlfriend as well as the Story “JUMONG”

I watch jumong & I like the story but the only thing is it is shown late at night. Can the GMA transfer the schedule to the same time vacated by Bakekang so my daugther can watch it also. is there any book about jumong?
I already finished the whole episode of Jumong, I watched it during weekends, 15- 20 episodes in one cd that runs 45 minute to 60 minutes each episode, gush it seems like reading a pocketbook because of the translation. But every episode that I finished. It makes me excited to finished the remaining episodes. I watched it together with my fiancée and we really enjoyed it a lot. It’s one of a kind soap opera. With that cute face of Jumong, wow how I wished he can visit our country.

Song il Gook who played the role of jumong is a very fine actor… But watching the “jumong behind the scenes”, Gosh! he always has this cute smile everytime he had mistakes in delivering his lines… i couldn’t contain his smile talaga.. hahaha.. but i also discover how playful he is during shootings and the makings… If in jumong, he’s very serious and with strong personality as a king, we’ll you better watch him behind the camera, and you will know how funny, playful and sweet jumong is…. =)
SIG has an upcoming drama on Sept. entitled “The Lobbyists”(aka ANGEL).Han Jae-suk and Jang Ji-young will also be starring here.About the lead actress..it’s not yet sure because it should be Kim Tae-hee but her side had already declined to accept the poject and so there are rumors stating that Yoon Eun-hye will change KTH as the lead actress.But as for now the project is still on negotiating because SIG side hasn’t yet signed the contract.The filming will start on May.

For Free, you could watch it na lang sa youtube.. type any keywords that u think would show some of it’s behind the scenes. Download mo na lang din after you watch, para you have a copy of your own sa pc mo.. =)

He he he. I’m sure alam na rin nang iba na Jumong’s mother will die by the hands of the king, and that Jumong will be led to believe that Yesoya and their son Louili died. So he and Seoseno leads an alliance and brings the whole Turf of Zheng Yeng and the the Han army down. Jumong and Seoseno marries each other to establish their own empire and it flourishes at the expense of Bueyo. After fifteen years, Daiso is named King of Bueyo. Jumong and Seoseno have this fifteen year old son, and Yesoya resurfaces with Youili from obscurity, pero may sakit na siya sa baga at sumusuka siya nang dugo! At ang anak ni Zhumong na si Youili, hindi maikakaila kasi kamukhang-kamukha niya….
Palabas sya sa Arirang Channel. Korean nga lang, pero habang pinanunuod mo siya nang matagal, parang naiintindihan mo na rin.

I think you misunderstood my comment…I didn’t say there that Han Jae-suk,Jang Ji-young and Yoon Eun-hye are in jumong but I said that SIG,HJS and JJY will be casted in the upcoming new kdrama(The Lobbyist).The leading actress is not yet confirmed
because like what I’ve said before that Kim Tae-hee was their first choose but since KTH had already declined to this offer.(maybe because KTH had already accepted the movie offer to her entitled “Quarrels”) There are rumors that Yoon Eun-hye will take place of it.But I think it will not push through anymore because YEH ahd already accepted the offer of new series in MBC entitled “Coffee Prince Number One Shop” w/c will start in July replacing the series Air City(Choi Ji-woo and Lee Jung-jae).
Yoon Eun-hye is the leading actress in the kdrama “Goong”(aka Palace or Princess Hours).
Han Jae-suk is also in the kdrama All About Eve,Glass Slippers(aka Glass Shoes) and Four Sisters.He’s WARREN in AAE….now can you remember him?

I just want to say. I am happy na wala nang bakekang! Thank God! Imagine hearing the GMA trailer “….Jumong pagkatapos ng Bakekang…” It is so sad to note the US has has CSI, Greys Anatomy, Taiwan has Meteor Garden, Japan has Animes, Korea has Jumong and that GMA (Philippines) shows Bakekang.
I wish there would be more Historical/mythological drama’s set in the Philippines that would extol our cuclture and identity as a country. Why not make a series out of the lives of our own colorful heroes like Sakay, Rajah Sulaiman or Panday Pira (Our very own Mopalmo)

Straight 4 days i was not able to do my work just to watch the ending of the said JUMONG.It was my first time to watch movie of war like Jumong and i was so impressed the whole production , it’s really the BEST! I love seeing the face of jumong or SONG il Guk. He is the only No.1 Best actor in korean movie. I love you JUMONG. I wish you will visit the PHILs. .

am so happy to discover this thread on jumong. i recently discovered the drama, and i must admit that i am indeed a true-blue jumong addict. jumonger to the bones!
i read from a review of the drama (one with special emphasis on its historical background) that the marriage between the real jumong & soseono was just a political marriage of convenience. the historical purists insist that the relationship between jumong & soseono was far from the romanticized love projected on screen. it seems that jumong’s true love was really yesoya.
the ending (ep. 81) is apparently a compromise to end the drama on a “feel-good” note. it is propabably the makers’ way of providing comfort to soseono’s diehards without straying too far from the historical facts. jumong was real afterall.

i’ve been watching Jumong (a.k.a prince of legend) in AZN, and it’s on 68th episode. At first i didn’t like jumong that much as Song-Il acts like pathetic but now i’ve seen this far, it’s actually interesting and entertaining to watch. It reminds me of Emperor of the Sea, watching Song-Il (jumong) and Yeo ho-Min (oyi) together. But Song-Il’s acting is better on Emperor of the sea though….he is the villain whom you tend to love…

i just finished all the episodes..although jumong will die in the end..it is a happy ending since he has defeated the han and his son even killed prince daisu..i think jumong died of an infected wound that spread to his bones..he did not die from a particular war. It is sad though that despite he and xausinou got married, they have to part ways in the end since it was their destiny for the good of korea..

hey everyone! haven’t posted here in a while…seems like there are many who’d like to have episode summary of Ju Mong…dun sa kabilang Jumong site here in Filipina soul, someone posted, I think, until episode 72 pero summarized talaga for the most part. Right now, I’ve been writing the episodes (from the start up until Ju Mong became general of Buyeo, mejo ung mga nangyari didn’t exactly follow the GMA version (pero the essential parts are all there..nagstart na kasi ako doing write-ups mejo almost halfway into the show). The episodes after that are a bit more accurate, lalo na ung time na unang nagkausap si So Ya and Seolran. I’ve got a problem with my usb (dun lahat naka-save kc), but I plan to post the spoilers on my site sa next version nya. Di pa kc tapos ngaun and I don’t have the DVD so I can only follow sa GMA; my synopsis will still be incomplete til matapos ang series. If anybody will still be interested to read the spoilers AFTER Jumong ends (baka August or September na matapos), please visit my fanlisting.

The story of “Jumong” dates to the foundations of Korea in the 2nd century B.C., when three kingdoms existed: Goguryeo, Silla and Baekje.
The English name for Korea was derived from the Goryeo dynasty, which had a large territory in what is now northeast China.
Jumong, or Chumong, was the name of the founding king of Goguryeo, played in the historical drama by Song Il Gook.
This series is a production of MBC, one of the three largest networks in South Korea, and a special program developed to celebrate its 45th anniversary.
In South Korea, the ratings of “Jumong” are soaring in prime time. The MBC network plans to turn its multi-acre set into a tourist attraction after the program is over.
There is some confusion as to how to spell the lead character’s name; it’s spelled “Chumong” in the subtitles. In the late 1990s, South Korea adopted a standard for English-language spellings that reflect the pronunciation of the place name. So Cheju Island is now Jeju Island and Pusan is now Busan. The old spelling of the founding king’s name was “Chumong,” but it’s pronounced with a “J” sound.
Whoever did the translation at the network did not follow the standardization, instead using the old way of spelling; the drama is subtitled using the spelling Chumong when it should have been Jumong.
Since the network chose to use this format, KBFD had to be consistent when providing schedule information and promotion.
Adding to the confusion, Jumong is also known as “Jungmo” and “Chumo,” depending on which Chinese character is used to spell the name.
Jumong has a mythical background, as he is said to have been the son of Hae Mosu, the son of the Sun God. Jumong’s mother was the daughter of a river god, Habek, named Yuhwa. Yuhwa gave birth to an egg from which came Jumong.
The word jumong is supposed to have meant skilled in archery, as Hae Mosu was extremely talented with the bow.
Jumong is said to have had tremendous archery skills from birth and to be a natural leader, but in the TV program, Jumong is played as more of a quiet and subtle character.
In the opening action of series, Jumong’s palace brothers are trying to get the title of crown prince, currying favor from the king. And Jumong marries a woman named Ye Bu-young, who bears him his son Yuri.
Jumong, in fear for his life from his palace brothers, leaves for Jolbon land, where he befriends leaders in Gaeru. After gaining the support of Gaeru provincial leaders, he joins with other neighboring tribes and establishes Goguryeo, changing his surname from Hae to Go.
“Go,” which means “high” in Chinese characters, is the “Go” in Goguryeo. Jumong was also known as King Dongmyeongseong.
Jumong then marries Soseuno, a princess of Gaeru who bears him two sons. His first wife and son Yuri escape to Goguryeo, and Jumong then gives the title of crown prince to Yuri.

I’m not used to watching telenovelas. As in hate na hate ko. There was this one time na nakasakay ako ng jeep and there were two big men nag uusap. Narinig ko na lang sabi nung isa malaking lalaki pa naman “Inumpasahan ko ng 9pm gang 6 hindi pa ako natapos sa jumong.” When I heard it, naging curious tuloy ako kasi andami ko ng naririnig about Jumong. Imagine kalahati na ng kwento yung inumpasahan kong panoorin sa tv. Yun me competition yata yun kina dae, yong po ska jumong. Whew! Andami ko ng hindi napanood pero grabe after that everynight ko na hinihintay lagi ang Jumong. And grabe naging jumongers tuloy ako. Kala ko baduy ang telenovelas pero with this one grabe na addict ako! Meron pa akong ready coffee and snacks talaga pag watch na ako ng jumong. Nakaka relieve and you have something to look forward at the end of the day talaga.
Gusto ko sana si Sayong kaso parang bakla ata role nya dun kasi me gusto sya dun sa isa sa mga alagad ni Jumong yung kulot ang hair. He reminds me of yung mahaba ang hair dun sa “The lord of the rings”

There are different motives of watching movies like Jumong. Some watch it for sake of pleasure, some because the love the story, but there are some who watch it because they admire the beauty of the casts, but as for me, who would think that I watch this religiously? Yes I do!
As theologian as I am who took a formal study of the course, I have realized that the ancient culture portrayed in this story is not far but very close and almost parallel with the culture of the Jews. I found out that the character of Jumong was actually the awaited Messiah (Christ) during their time who would liberate them from the oppression of the Roman Empire (Empire of Han in Jumong). Jumong’s vision was also the vision of his people. That was also exactly true in Jesus’ time.
But most Jews were so much disappointed because the character they expected to Jesus was the opposite. They had thought that the Christ would be a great and mighty political warrior but died shamefully.
This is just a side comment. I just wanted to show that I watched this movie differently and reflected it very unique compared to others.

Jumong is described as the son of Hae Mosu (解慕漱：the son of heaven) and Yuhwa (柳花：daughter of the river god Habaek (河伯)). Hae Mosu met Yuhwa by a river where she was bathing, but the river god disapproved of Hae Mosu, who returned to heaven. The river god chased Yuhwa away to Ubalsu(優渤水), where she met and became the concubine of King Geumwa of Dongbuyeo.
Yuwha was impregnated by sunlight and gave birth to an egg. Geumwa tried to destroy the egg, and tried to feed it to animals, who instead protected the egg from harm. Geumwa returned it to Yuhwa. From the egg hatched a baby boy, who was named Jumong, meaning “skilled archer” in korean.

To my fellow “Jumongers”. I really realy love the story. The story very superb one, , a complete one. From their culture, the sceneries, the costumes, the actors (of course Jumong himself and his 3 loyal friends: Mari, Oyi,and shang-fu and of course Soceno their acting was outstanding ) The friendship, the love of Jumong to his real father HaeMesue and mother, the love to his country, his love to King Jinwa . How he controlled his anger to his 2 brothers, his love life, he ’s so very gentle, and so many good values, tha’s why almost a year now , everyday after my office work it’s my daily ritual to watch my favorite episode, until this writing. I’m very happy to share this feeling, this experience I’m encountered, I learned may lessons of life in that korean novela. I hope and pray that there will be a JUMONG Part 2 in the future.
