Filipinos Sent Home $12.8 Billion in 2006

The Philippine Central Bank has announced that the remittances that Filipinos sent back home in 2006 reached a record $12.8 billion. That’s about 10% of the country’s economy. In December 2006 alone, the amount was $1.3 billion.
