In search of the perfect grilled squid
Inihaw na pusit. Succulent, sweet and grilled to perfection.
Haay. I’ve craved this for the past seven years.. Not that I can’t find this in the US, but there’s something nostalgic about eating grilled squid with soysauce and vinegar combo, hot rice, and served on a banana leaf.
Finally… Aaah.. *rubbing belly* Busog na.
At Samaral Restaurant in Calamba, day 3 of my vacation…

At La Takloba Restaurant in Tagaytay, (eaten day 7)

And at Jerry’s Grill at the Mall of Asia (eaten day 8).. And I forgot to take a photo but… well, it looked the same above, hahahah…
What’s your Pinoy craving?
(Part of a mini-series, “My Journey Home ” chronicles this balikbayan’s return after 7 long years.)

You can also try the inihaw na pusit at congo grill.
Or in nearby seaside (near SM Mall of Asia) you got to buy it raw then have them cook it.
I did hear there’s a place you can have your seafood cooked. mas fresh pa siguro doon. thanks Sonnie, I’ll keep these in mind.
You’re probably thinking of “Dampa”-style restaurants. There are now a number of them scattered all over Manila. I was able to eat at one of the original ones in 2003, and it was a great experience. Fresh seafood cooked to your specifications!
OMG, my mouth’s watering just looking at that photo.
wow, sarap, will make sure I will try this one when I visit the Philippines in December. I can’t wait. The picture looks so luscious. What’s the red thinng in the middle (first picture)? Is this also stuffed, the way they cook bangus (with vegetable stuffing)?
