April. Summer springs to the Philippines
While most of America is only waking up to spring, April in the Philippines is warming up in time for SUMMER. With school over for the year, this month signals the start of much anticipated holidays and events. So what can one expect this month?

Humid days. If you live in Manila, you already forgot how the first week of March felt when the breeze was still comfortable. The days are now growing warmer and more humid and people get crazy for abanicos, beaches and open hydrants.
Ice-cold softdrinks, dirty ice cream and halo-halo to cool the throat and tummy… aaah.

The Holy Week. This is a big holiday for the whole country, and in fact, starts on Wednesday to give people time for travel. As a christian nation, the passion of Jesus Christ is remembered from small towns to the big cities.
Bataan Day. Another big holiday (April 9), this commemmorates the surrender of American and Filipino soldiers to the Japanese during World War II.
(Come to think of it, this year Filipios will have a 6-day holiday, from the start of Holy Week (April 4) to Monday April 9 for Bataan Day.. woo hoo!)
iBlog3 2007. The 3rd Philippine Blogging Summit will be held next week April 13-14, in UP Diliman, Quezon City. Check ‘em out!
Jeepney King Festival in Manila celebrates the jeepney drivers every year this month.
School vacation. Yup. School’s out for most students, and that means the beaches, malls and resorts will get packed again.
