On the Filipinos’ humans rights across the globe

Really, I’m not feeling political or activistic (is there such a word?!), but I thought these news have some merit of being posted on a Philippine culture blog. After all, proper view and respect of our rights as Filipinos and humans have a big impact on our cultural heritage.

Filipino expatriates urged not to lose hope on ‘OAV’; Philippines bishop visiting Kuwait. Meloto: The Filipino spirit is rising. Antonio Meloto, the visionary behind Gawag Kalinga’s success, delivered this graduation address to Ateneo de Davao. It’s worth reading and acted upon. [sunstar]

I can’t help but give my take about the first link – lawmakers urging a travel advisory – I mean, duh? As much as the Virginia tech tragedy was a deplorable act against citizens of the United States, it was a lone and deranged gunman’s idea of revenge. That in no way compares to the bombings orchestrated by AbuSayaf and other terrorist organizations in the Philippines who seek to kill to advance their twisted cause.

So, what about you? Any news that struck your chord?
