Early Election Results Show Celebrities Out
Could this be a sign that voters have finally gotten tired of celebrities in public office?
Early election results show that the following actors/actresses will NOT be in the top 12 of the Senatorial candidates:
- Richard Gomez (actor)
- Cesar Montano (actor)
- Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (actor/former senator running for new term)
- Victor Wood (singer)
I have nothing against these candidates in their respective fields. In fact, I particularly admire Cesar Montano as an actor. But the Senate is a venerable institution that requires loftier qualifications than these people offer. So, if these candidates never make it to the Senate, I will be grateful to the voters indeed.
Could it be? Here’s hoping….

I’ve long wrung my hands over showbiz personalities in the Senate and other government positions. Maybe now I can start to breathe a sigh of relief…
[...] the results of the recent elections confirm it. It’s not just Richard Gomez, Cesar Montano, Tito Sotto, and Victor Wood who have been given a dose of what I hope is the new reality of Philippine [...]
