Happy News (5-10-07)

I’ll never tire of reading good news about our dear Philippines. I know there are always bad things happening, but those get enough press attention already. So, here are some of the happy news that you may (or may not) have heard about:
* UK Investment Fund Managers and Private Investor Clubs tap their deep pockets to purchase real estate investments in the Philippine Condotel market amid shortage of Hotel rooms driving expected ROI through rental returns upwards of 14% per annum. (via UK PRWire)
* The Philippines Department of Agriculture, in tandem with the National Food Authority announced on Sunday a plan to put up a $42 million “national grains highway” that will link farm production areas directly to major consumption centers and substantially decrease the price of agricultural products. (via AHN)
* A 19-person trade delegation arrived (in Miami, Florida) from the Philippines last week to promote the country as a global resource provider. (via Basta Pinoy)
* At the stroke of 12 midnight on Sunday (local time), gas stations in the Philippines started pumping biofuels in diesel-powered cars in the country as the Biofuels Act took effect. (via AHN)
* Harvard Business School Press of the U.S. and Philippines-based consulting firm John Clements Consulting Inc. have signed a partnership agreement to distribute books and corporate learning materials in Manila. (via AHN)
I hope that put a smile on your face!
