UK Embassy to Begin Biometric Visa System in the Philippines

biometrics

Applicants for visas to the United Kingdom will now go through a new system involving biometrics. Peter Beckingham, British Ambassador to the Philippines, says that the new facilities will make the visa application process faster and safer for everyone.

The new system’s process begins with digital finger scanning and digital taking of photographs, which will serve as personal data reference record for the embassy. The personal record would make easy, fast, and safe access to UK travel in the future.

Applicants can rest assured the system protects them and members of their families from identity theft and from being accidentally mistaken for another person with the same or similar name.

I’m all for efficiency so this is good news!

I went to Los Angeles last March 2007. I went through the biometric visa system in the airport. It is not only easy and fast for the passengers in the queue but a safety net for the country concerned against unscrupulous evil people. No traditional veils or masks are exempted to the biometrics system. Revelation of our facial features and finger markings represent our true identity.
