Another Wedding in the Family

This weekend, I attended my cousin’s wedding. Weddings in the family are always cause for much celebration. I love seeing my kababata (the people I grew up with) all dressed up and radiant, ready to begin a new life. The flowergirls in all their finery. The little boys all cute in their barong Tagalog. The beautiful bridesmaids. It’s a happy, happy occasion.
In our far-flung extended family, weddings also double as reunions and opportunities to catch up with cousins, aunts and uncles. The last time I saw some of them was at another wedding two years ago. That couple is now expecting their first child (congrats, you guys!). I haven’t seen one of my other cousins for more than 10 years, so it was a nice time to get reacquainted.
I don’t have a lot of photos to show, unfortunately. Have you tried taking photos while chatting and holding a toddler in one arm? I’ve realized the futility of that exercise and stopped trying a long time ago. But it’s ok. It was more important for me to get some serious chat time with as many people as I can. After all, who knows when the next wedding in the family will be? Well, I’m hoping I’ll see them again sooner than that.
We had great fun and it was wonderful to see you all again! Congratulations and best wishes again, J and A!
