Typhoon Bebeng moves out of RP; quake hits Visayas
There is a collective sigh across the country as a strong typhoon veers away from the Philippines.
Typhoon Man-Yi (local name Bebeng) packed up to 252-kph (156 mph) sustained winds and was last reported moving north-northwest at 30 kph(18.6 mph). Now I’m not a meteorologist, but a storm that strong moving that slow will dump more rain and wreak more havoc, so this is good news for the country. Unfortunately, the southern island of Okinawa, Japan was not spared, injuring 17 people as of Friday July 13 and cutting power to 100,000 homes.
In Okinawa, men trying to clear the damage clung to trees to withstand the violent wind and rain, which was so forceful it uprooted trees and knocked over large fences, television footage showed. – Inquirer.net
Meanwhile, a 4.4 earthquake was registered in Dumaguete, Negros Occidental on Friday morning, but thankfully there were no reports of damage or injury.
I hope the forecast looks better for Saturday! Friends of ours are going to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a full garden wedding celebration and we all hate to see them soaked. Blessings to the UBKs!

Oh no, in Dumaguete!? That’s my dad’s hometown. I wonder if he’s already heard about it. I should give my tita a call. Thanks for the info.
oops that should read Christine, not Chri
My Fiance is in Dumaguete and she told me about the Earthquake too.
She seemed pretty calm about it although she told me she was scared when it happened. I can’t say that I blame her.
But thank god she, her family, and the good folks in Dumaguete are safe.
