14 more days in detention for Sison. Communist leader Jose Maria Sison, who was arrested last week in the Netherlands for the alleged murder of his communist colleagues. Charges were supposedly dismissed but he’s still going to be detained.
Court drops libel charges by Pepsi in ‘349’ fiasco. The latest in a series of court battles between PepsiCo and “Number Fever 349″ winners that began 15 years ago. I still remember the hype and hysteria over this.

Results of a recent survey by the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) might trouble some Filipino men’s egos.

According to this data from the last five years, there are more women holding supervisory positions than men.

Philippine Airlines upgrades online booking services

Now you can securely and rapidly book international flights using e-tickets from Philippine Airlines.
PAL upgraded its internet booking and e-ticketing services to allow user a selection of the cheapest fares for both domestic and international itineraries.

The airline said the online booking link at its website (www.philippineairlines.com) provides information on the lowest available domestic fares over a seven-day period, and allows quick booking for any domestic flight, secured ticket payment and booking confirmation all within minutes.
The system immediately displays the ticket number and other flight information after payment through credit cards. Included in the booking confirmation are the applicable fares.

RP reduces national debt by 1% in June, 2007

One percent debt reduction isn’t a lot. Well, not if you’re talking debt in the trillion pesos!
The Bureau of Treasury reported this weekend that the Philippines managed to reduce its outstanding debt. Domestic debt fell by P30 billion to P2.118 trillion in June, and foreign debt fell by P8 billion to P1.663 trillion. Thanks in large part to a strengthening pesos against the US dollar and the payment of more domestic debt.
Debt payments equaled to one percent of the total government debt of P3.782 trillion!
