Ask the readers: “Is the P12-pay hike for NCR workers enough?”
What’s twelve pesos to most Filipinos in Metro Manila?
A half-kilo of rice or a can of sardine.
That’s what it will equal to in goods with the approval of P12-peso minimum wage increase. The new minimum wage will now be P362, but the National Capital Region (NCR) wage board still has not announced when that increase will take effect.
Will that increase be enough? Labor groups and trade unions don’t seem to think so, since the request was for a P75 increase.
Malacanang defended the increase based on several factors considered together before coming up with a figure.
What do YOU think? Will this be enough?
