Jumong-episode-66a

In the snow blizzard, Ju Mong continues to kneel as he prays to the gods asking them to spare the people of Jolbon and Goguryeo, and that he will give up his greed and his life for this. Ju Mong prays one last time and he faints, startling those around him. Meanwhile in Buyeo, Budeukbul informs King Geumwa even though Ju Mong is keeping a holy shrine himself, Jolbon’s condition has not improved, rather it will soon fall as its stored grains will perish in no time. The ministers are happy and tell Geumwa the heavens are on Buyeo’s side, but Geumwa is solemn and tells the court they have to ride on the opportunity to help Jolbon come to destruction thus it is not time for them to celebrate. Daeso comes forward and asks Geumwa for army for he wishes to attack Jolbon but Geumwa firmly tells Daeso his opportunity was already lost and tells Daeso to back down, and that he himself will lead the mission. The queen finds out and says she will go and comfort Daeso. Just then Daeso after being shamed in court is furious as he thinks about what Ju Mong has done to him, and Daeso reminds Mawuryeong she told him that Ju Mong was dead, but he is still alive, and Daeso asks Mawuryeong what happened. A shaking Mawuryeong replies she did not say Ju Mong was dead, but Daeso gets even more upset and he draws a sword pointing at her saying she betrayed him when he trusted in her. Mawuryeong begs for her life, as the queen arrives trying to calm Daeso down. Daeso yells out he must return the shame Mawuryeong put on him, but the queen insists he mustn’t make the matter worse, and Daeso throws his sword away, as the queen tells the oracle to hurry and leave.

Afterwards, the queen sits down by Daeso, and the queen assures him a new opportunity will surely come again. Naro arrives, telling them the king is leaving for battle, and they should go out to send him off. Naro then states King Geumwa will be heading the Yeonna army and has asked Daeso to accompany him. The queen is joyful and tells Daeso the king has not forgotten him and the opportunity has come again as she said it would. Meanwhile, Yeongpo prepares to leave upon the king’s request to go, and just as he finishes bragging to Imperial Minister Hwang about how the king thinks more highly of him then Daeso since he’s chosen him over Daeso to go, Yeongpo goes out to the center court and he realizes Daeso is going on the mission as well. Next, King Geumwa arrives and the Buyeo force prepares for departure as they are joined by Hyeonto and Yeonna forces. Geumwa goes over his war strategies with Hyeonto’s governor Yangjeong, and Geumwa states they will attack Ju Mong head on, and Geumwa orders the two princes to head the first mission. Yeongpo and Daeso lead a group of army, and as Geumwa watches them leave, Geumwa tells Prime Minister Buduekbul to go to Jolbon to talk to Ju Mong. Geumwa tells Budeukbul it will not be an easy mission, but he wishes Budeukbul to move Ju Mong’s heart so they can avoid a bloody fight and persuade Ju Mong to concede peacefully.

Jumong-episode-66b

Back in Buyeo palace, Lady Yoohwa and Yesoya pray vigilantly before the shrine, and Haochen tells Seolran the two women have been praying before gods for days. Seolran complains they are praying for the enemy in Buyeo and they are but cursing Buyeo, but Haochen says Jolbon will be ruined in no time thus she mustn’t worry. Meanwhile in Jolbon, Ju Mong remains unconscious and Musong wonders what is happening to Jolbon and if this means they are really coming to ruins. Moogol tells him to stop such talk of bad omen and the two men are about to fight when Mopalmo scolds them aloud, and Hyeopbo asks everyone to calm down. nearby Jolbon’s border, Naro spocks out Bubunno guarding the border, and Naro returns to Daeso to inform him there are less than 200 soldiers guarding the border. Daeso tells them to attack at once the border and its nearby village, thus Naro and the Buyeo/Han force begin attack on Bubunno and the Damul/Jolbon force. Naro calls out Bubunno among the battling crowd, and the two men exchange swords. Bubunno knocks Naro to the ground after some fight, and Bubunno rushes off on horse to meet Ju Mong. Just then Ju Mong awakes and asks about Soseono but at last she has yet to return from her trip. Jaesa and Mari inform Ju Mong their famine is getting more severe and many are fleeing from Jolbon looking for a way to survive. Yeontabal says many fear Jolbon will soon be ruined, and Ju Mong gets up from his bed and steps out, even though Mari and Jaesa ask him to rest more while they try to settle the hearts of the citizens. Ju Mong steps out and are met by his servants, the trios and Mopalmo with Musong. His faithful servants ask him to rest more, but Ju Mong smiles at them, putting his arm on Moogol for assurance. Yangtak rushes in and reports their border has been attacked. Next, Ju Mong and the trios rush to the village by their border and Ju Mong watches in dismay the bloody bodies of the villagers, as Bubunno informs him the enemy force was headed by prince Yeongpo and Daeso of Buyeo. Ju Mong returns and continues putting a shrine, telling the gods he will take on more trials, but Ju Mong asks the heavens to spare Jolbon.

Jumong-episode-66cBudeukbul arrives in Gyeru and asks to speak to grand commander Ju Mong. Yeontabal goes to Ju Mong who is kneeling before the shrine and he informs him of the news of the visitor. Ju Mong meets with Budeukbul who has come as King Geumwa’s envoy and Ju Mong asks why he’s come. Buduekbul replies King Geumwa doesn’t want to see blood exchanged any longer, and Budeukbul asks Ju Mong to succumb to Buyeo for the good of the people of Jolbon since upholding a shrine and insisting on its independence is but a foolish waste. Ju Mong replies to succumb to Buyeo is the same as succumbing to Han, and Budeukbul states King Geumwa has promised to allow Ju Mong a high post after Jolbon comes under Buyeo’s subjugation, thus Ju Mong should throw away his stubborn discontent for Han in order to save Jolbon; however Ju Mong replies it is better to die than to live under mockery and shame. Budeukbul insists, that a great leader must listen to the voice of the people, and at this moment, Ju Mong should be hearing the cries of the people suffering in famine and war. Buduekbul asks Ju Mong if he will allow that to continue for a foolish hatred toward Han, and Ju Mong says if that is the path for him then that is where he will go, and like he has said, he is now blind and deaf. Ju Mong continues and says he hears his people not with eyes but with his heart and Budeukbul should return to Buyeo to relate to Geumwa, that the Damul and Jolbon will not kneel before a Buyeo who has joined hands with Han. afterwards, the Jolbon chiefs ask how the meeting went and Yeontabal reports Geumwa has extended peaceful subjugation, but that Ju Mong has declined. The chiefs then go and try to persuade Ju Mong to reconsider saying that is the only way to save them at this time, but Ju Mong tells the chiefs not to fear Buyeo nor Han, and that if they are determined with death then a road will surely open, and Ju Mong asks the chiefs to follow his will. Meanwhile, Budeukbul returns to Buyeo and stands before King Geumwa in court. Geumwa asks how it went, and Budeukbul replies Ju Mong has declined the king’s offer. The court members are shocked, and Jaeboo minister is appalled. The king then tells Budeukbul to give Daeso and Yeongpo the order to attack again, thus the villagers of a Gwan-na tribe are slaughtered by Daeso and Yeongpo’s army men. Next a wounded Gwan-na border man rushes toward Gyeru with news of the slaughtering, saying they were outnumbered three to one thus the citizens were completely killed off. Yeonna border town is also slaughtered, and the trios report to Ju Mong Biryu and Hanna are under immediate threat of slaughter as well. Yeonchaeryeong states the people have lost all their faith thus it will be difficult for them to trust in Ju Mong. Yangtak also agrees unless they do something now there’s no way to stop what is to come. Ju Mong is speechless and he goes to the oracles chamber, paying a visit to the sacred bow. Ju Mong believes he has so far followed the heaven’s calling by avoiding war but he now wonders if he must be destroyed like this, and Ju Mong wonders if the owner of the Damul bow is really him, rather than Buyeo. Soryeong advises Ju Mong that if Ju Mong wavers then Jolbon stands no choice, and Soryeong reminds him he must remain determined without doubt. Ju Mong pauses and he tells Soryeong and the starchild that their people are getting killed by Han and Buyeo’s Yeonna army, and he feels his uncertain what to do, and where to lead the Jolbon people as he feels strength less about the people who are dying. Ju Mong confesses his torment while Soryeong and the starchild watch him intently. Ju Mong studies the Damul bow again afterwards and wonders what the future holds. Afterwards, the Oh-ma-hyeop trio announces to Ju Mong the three of them will go and kill Daeso and if they don’t finish their mission they will not return to Jolbon. Ohyi begs Ju Mong to let him go, but Ju Mong says he cannot send them as assassins. Mari says when the three of them had no where to go and no will in life, Ju Mong gave them hope and future, and even now they don’t waver in their trust in him, and for Ju Mong and Jolbon, they will do everything. Hyeopbo agrees, and says they know clearly the sacrifices Ju Mong has made in fighting Han, and thus they cannot sit still. Ohyi continues and says they cannot let Yeonna army continue their slaughtering, thus he asks again for Ju Mong’s approval. Ju Mong says he will remember their faith in him in his heart but he cannot let them go. Ju Mong continues and says he is ashamed of his temporary waver and Ju Mong says he cannot risk losing them because he needs them to continue their path in the future. The three are touched, and Ju Mong says if they are determined with death then they will find a way, and he himself will lead them to the border thus they are to prepare.

Jumong-episode-66dAt night, Ju Mong and the Oh-ma-hyeop, Jae-moo-mook trios go by the Jolbon border, and Ju Mong watches as some Yeonna army men are chasing fleeing Jolbon citizens. Ju Mong goes after them, but Jaesa warns him he could be attacked by arrow as it may be a trap. Ju Mong says they cannot hold back as the army men will surely kill the people on foot. thus Ju Mong and the trios attack the small group of Yeonna army, and right afterwards, Sayong and a group of merchantmen appear. Ju Mong asks what happened and what happened to Soseono. Sayong says Soseono is well and they have been unable to enter Jolbon due to the Yeonna army, and she is now in Ohgeum mountain looking for a way to enter Jolbon. Sayong says she sent him here to deliver the news, and Ju Mong tells his men to gather an army at once toward Ohgeum mountain to bring back Soseono and their merchant group. Thus the Damul army enters a battle with a group of Yeonna army nearby Ohgeum mountain, and Jaesa order his soldiers not to spare any of the Yeonna men. after some time, Damul kills off all the Yeonna soldiers, and Ju Mong leads his group in shouting hooray for Damul army. Next, Ju Mong and his group reach the foot of Ohgeum mountain, and Ju Mong watches as Soseono, her merchant group, together with Buwuiyeom and his pirate family march out from the mountain. The two groups are elated to see each other again, and Soseono says she is late due to their effort in trying o gather ample supply. Buwuiyeom reports they were able to get enough medicines and grains as they hoped. Ju Mong tells the traveled they have done well, and he puts his hands on the gathered men for assurance. They return to Jolbon, and Songyang is pleased to see Ju Mong, as are the citizens of Jolbon nations. Next, Jolbon appears to be flourishing again as they newly found grains and medicines are distributed to the families of Jolbon.

Jumong-episode-66fMeanwhile, in Buyeo, Daeso has returned to report to Geumwa that Jolbon is about to fall as their border villages are destroyed. Yangjeong asks Geumwa to attack Gyeru first, and Daeso agrees with Geumwa’s assessment, and urges Geumwa to attack Jolbon immediately without wavering. But just then, Budeukbul arrives with news that Jolbon has replenished its grain and medicine supplies, and Jolbon has been restored again. Daeso wonders how when their borders are surrounded by Yeonna army, and Budeukbul states the incident must be related to the time when Ju Mong hid his presence. at night, Geumwa dreams of soldiers chasing him with Ju Mong appearing before him, and Geumwa awakes breaking out in cold sweat. Songju arrives to check on him and Geumwa asks if any news from Daeso has arrived, and Songju says not yet. Geumwa then remembers his meeting with Shijo mountain oracle Bigeumseon, and how she said Buyeo would be destroyed upon the people of old Joseon reclaiming its land and glory. Next morning, Daeso tells Geumwa Ju Mong was able to find grains and medicines with help from pirate group from the south. Budeukbul says their soldiers nearby Ohgeum mountain were attacked and killed. Geumwa gazes at Daeso angrily and asks Daeso what he was doing when Ju Mong was scheming all this. Next, a court session is held, and Yangjeong states Jolbon has only just received its grains and medicines, thus they are still weak and this is the time they should attack them, but Geumwa says they are not strong enough to enter battle with Jolbon full force. Yangjeong gets angry and says if so they he will have no choice but to alert Han nation and prepare the steel warriors. Afterwards, Yangjeong tells Daeso he should’ve never trusted in Geumwa, but Daeso asks him not to resent Geumwa too much and that Buyeo and Han are already in the same boat. Yangjeong wonders what they will do now when their famine strategy failed and wonders what he will report to Han imperial. Just then Royal Minister Hwang arrives with Yeongpo and Majin, and Hwang tells Yangjeong he already made a report to the Han imperial and Yangjeong is furious, but Hwang reminds him he was sent to Buyeo and Hyeonto on the emperor’s order to supervise Yangjeong and Buyeo. Hwang then tells Daeso there were rumors that Daeso was a distinguished prince, but seeing how he is short against Ju Mong time after time those rumors are but untrue.

Jumong-episode-66eIn Biryu, Songyang watches as his tribe receives rations of food and supply, and just then Songyang is notified with news that Ju Mong and Soseono have arrived. Songyang goes to greet Ju Mong and asks him for forgiveness for wavering in his trust. Songyang then vows they will trust in Ju Mong with their lives, and the other chiefs nearby also bow before Ju Mong. Ju Mong tells the gathered the heavens will surely give Jolbon triumph, and the will of Jolbon which was accomplished through sufferings and pain will not waver. Ju Mong then states after this trial, he learned an important lesson, which is that a grand will is not accomplished by one person, but rather their triumph was achieved because of all the people. Ju Mong says he will remember this lesson with his heart and use it to in the building of their strong nation.
