Jumong fans, we’re now at Episode 69 of this popular Koreanovela :
***
Ju Mong watches as the trios continue to train their soldiers in iron armor. Ohyi states the Hans will be startled with fear when they see their iron army and Moogol smilingly states it is the same as they have already won the war, but Ju Mong turns around and with a serious look he asks Moogol if they won in the past against Han because of their weapon. Moogol is caught off guard, and Ju Mong states the strongest weapon against the enemy is not their steel sword or iron armor, rather, it is their will to fight til the end, and in the battle, their sword and armor are only accessories upon their will. Moogol replies he will remember the lesson, and as Ju Mong walks away, Ohyi slaps Moogol’s head from behind and tells him to keep himself alert. Next Ju Mong sits down with the trios to strategize for the war, and Ju Mong tells them there’s a fundamental difference between this war and the previous wars, which is that in this upcoming war, instead of defending themselves against the Hans, they are instead attacking them in the enemy’s familiar surrounding. Ju Mong states they could lose a hundred men at once in enemy territory, and Mari agrees, adding that furthermore, they must not make the same mistake that happened to them in the war against Imdun and Jinbeom, when Soseono and the supply group were kidnapped by Songyang. Jaesa warns them if the Yeodong army joins force with Hyeonto’s steel army, then it will make it very difficult for the Damul army to fight off, but Ju Mong is sure that Yeodong will not come since they are currently guarding their fort, and if the Yeodong army leaves then the fort will fall into Malga and Hyeongnu tribes, and the Hans will not allow that to happen. Mari and Jaesa are happy by the assessment. Next, out in the training field, Bubunno leads a group of iron clad Damul soldiers, and the group fights against a group of ordinarily clad ex-pirates, led by General Buwuiyeom. Ju Mong and the trio arrive to watch as the Damul soldiers beat up on the pirate men, and Buwuiyeom yells to halt, then an angry Buwuiyeom yells at his pirate men asking them if they think they are still pirates, and scolds them saying they cannot be Damul soldiers with such weak skills. Ju Mong stops Buwuiyeom saying it will take some time to adjust, but Buwuiyeom apologizes and says it is still no excuse. Ju Mong then calls on Bubunno and puts him in charge of training the pirate men.
When Ju Mong returns, Sayong walks up to him to inform him the chiefs of Jolbon have arrived to see him. Ju Mong sends Ohyi and Moogol on a mission to Hyeonto to find out about the situation there, and Ju Mong follows Sayong inside, where Soseono, Yeontabal, Yangtak, Yeonchaeryeong, and the chiefs are waiting. Yeontabal tells the chiefs if they can stop Yeodong then they will succeed. Ju Mong states the battle before them must be fought by everyone in Jolbon in unity, and song yang states they are people who have already put their lives in Ju Mong’s hands thus they needn’t worry. Soseono states many people in Jolbon were killed off during last war, and now their soldier count is 3000. Yeonchaeryeong says, adding Damul to the Jolbon army they are a group of 5000 soldiers in total number. Yeonchaeryeong is concerned that they are still lacking in armymen, but Yeontabal says they needn’t worry since he has already summoned armymen from neighboring tribes and they can have around 2000 additional soldiers. Ju Mong replies that will be great aid to them, but he is worried about one thing, which is their food supply. Even though they have gathered some grains from the south, no one is to know for sure how long a war will last, and what will happen when the grains run out and they are still at war? The citizens will have to starve then and what logic is left when they are going to war for the citizens. Just then Soseono speaks up and says that issue is already been taken care of her, and gestures Sayong to proceed, while everyone waits with surprised look. Sayong gets up and brings a chest to the table containing preserved meat. Soseono says they kept the meat in salt brine and it has not rotten. Yeontabal takes a bite and afterwards smiles as he tells that will keep them going when the grains are low. The Hwanna chief then states Hwanna and Gwanna will be in charge of preserving meat, and Ju Mong then tells Yeonna to help Mopalmo with weapon development then. The chiefs all agree as they bow to Ju Mong. Just then Mopalmo urges the factory workers to work faster, when Mookgeo and Hyeopbo run in to tell Mopalmo they have improved their explosives even more. The two try to show Mopalmo what the explosives can do, but it does not light up, and when Hyeopbo walks to it to check on it, the explosive lights off and Hyeopbo’s face is wounded. Musong rushes to Sayong with the news, and Sayong rushes to Hyeopbo’s side, finding Hyeopbo suffering from painful face burn. Sayong asks Hyeopbo if he is alright, and Hyeopbo sits himself up and tells Sayong not to worry since his face is not wounded. Sayong looks at his facial burn and scoffs him wondering what will happen if Hyeopbo’s handsome face gets scarred. Hyeopbo is surprised by this, while Mopalmo and Mookgeo watch in amazement and disgust.
In Buyeo, King Geumwa spends his time drinking. Buduekbul comes to him and tells him he must gather himself, but Geumwa says he lost everything, including his youthful dreams of saving refugees. Geumwa says he lost everything and wonders what he will live for now. Budeukbul asks if that is really everything to Geumwa, and asks Geumwa what the people of Buyeo will believe in if the king is like this, and Buduekbul pleads Geumwa not to forsake the people, but Geumwa only laughs as he drinks more. A message arrives for Naro, from their spy in Jolbon, and upon reading it Naro is shocked. Naro then rushes to Daeso to report the news that Jolbon is preparing to attack Hyeonto. Daeso is shocked and tells Naro to prepare court. Haochen brings the news to Seolran, who tells Haochen to hurry and relate the news to her father, Yangjeong. In Buyeo court, Heukchi reports to Daeso it is confirmed from their messengers that Jolbon is indeed preparing for war. The ministers wonder if Jolbon is only saying they will attack Hyeonto, when in fact that are scheming to attack Buyeo for revenge over lady Yoohwa’s death. Daeso looks at Budeukbul, who says even though Ju Mong may indeed hate Buyeo he will not attack Buyeo. Daeso asks how he came to that conclusion and Budeubul says Ju Mong is one who offered to give Buyeo grains and medicines and thus he has no true intention to battle Buyeo. Budeukbul states Ju Mong is more likely to attack Hyeonto than Buyeo. The ministers seem less anxious by this, and Daeso goes to see the king with Budeukbul. Oracle Mawuryeong informs Geumwa Daeso and Budeukbul are here, and Geumwa who is sitting before the holy shrine tells her to let them in. Daeso tells King Geumwa Jolbon is preparing to attack Hyeonto. Budeukbul says they came to ask him what they should do, and Geumwa says Jolbon is battling Hyeonto then it has nothing to do with Buyeo. Daeso and Budeukbul are surprised, and Daeso says Buyeo and Han have an alliance, and when Buyeo was attacking Jolbon border the Hans helped them. Geumwa only repeats the word alliance, and says if Jolbon and Han are comrades then they won’t have to fight, and afterwards Geumwa just laughs. Daeso and Budeukbul are disheartened by Geumwa’s confused state of mind, and they leave after sighing heavily. Budeukbul tells Daeso he’s worried as Geumwa’s mind is leaving him more so each day. Mawuryeong tells them Geumwa has been in the oracle chamber for days sitting by the shrine, and Daeso asks her to take care of him. Budeukbul tells Daeso it is time for Daeso to make a decision, since Geumwa is incapable to do so at this time. Daeso says he wants to help Hyeonto, but they don’t’ seem ready for that. Budeukbul advises him they must help Hyeonto no matter what, because if Hyeonto falls, then they are next.
In Hyeonto, Dongseon tells Yangjeong Haochen has arrived from Buyeo. Haochen walks in and tells Yangjeong Jolbon is preparing to attack them. Yangjeong is shocked and next he sits down with Dongseon to plan their defense. Dongseon says they only have a few hundred steel armymen left, and their soldiers are only 20k in number. He has asked for reinforcement from Chang-ahn but they have not sent army. Yangjeong says this is all Minister Hwang’s fault. Dongseon asks Yangjeong if they should ask Buyeo for help, but Yangjeong says Buyeo is in no state to help them as they cannot even help themselves, and Yangjeong orders his prime minister to contact Chang-ahn immediately to ask for Yeodong army to be dispatched here. Next, Majin rushes to Yeongpo with news that Jolbon and Hyeonto will soon be in war, and Yeongpo complains Ju Mong always attacks where he is, and wonders how Ju Mong knows they are in Hyeonto. Just then Minister Hwang comes in and tells Yeongpo Yangjeong has asked for help from Chang-ahn thus he will wait and see what happens next. Ohyi and Moogol arrive in Hyeonto as disguised commoner and upon seeing soldiers passing through, Moogol says they must figured out that Jolbon will attack them soon. Ohyi says in this land of spies it would be strange if they didn’t know by now. The two walk off, and Yesoya, being dragged by men, see the two walk off and tries to break free, however she is unable while the two walk away. Instead, a Hyeonto guard comes and slaps her telling her she should realize that she will never escape, thus Yesoya weeps as she is dragged away. Back in Jolbon, Mari tells Ju Mong if Hyeonto cannot receive help from Yeodong army, then they will ask for imperial army and the Hans will have to send them the army to protect their own. Ju Mong says that is likely, and just then Ohyi and Moogol return from their trip. Ohyi reports Hyeonto already knows they will soon be attacked by Jolbon and Yangjeong has already asked Chang-ahn for Yeodong army. Ju Mong asks Ohyi if they found out how may Gojoseon remnants are left in Hyeonto, and Ohyi says they are a few hundred living as slaves. Ju Mong says they should ramp up support for Jolbon from the remnants in Hyeonto, and Ohyi offers to disguise himself as remnant with Moogol, so that they can go into the Hyeonto remnant people and gather support from within.
Meanwhile, many men young and old are asking for weapons outside the weapon factory saying they will fight for Jolbon too. Ju Mong arrives, and the men call out for Commander Ju Mong. Mopalmo tells Ju Mong the gathered are asking to fight in the battle, and Ju Mong walks toward them, and silences the crowd, telling them he understands their will, and as they already know this war is a war to reclaim the glory of old Joseon and he will not brush off their will, but fighting in war is not the only way to help, but staying here to help the soldiers is just as important, thus Ju Mong assigns the crowd the job of war preparing and back-end support, and the crowd cheers. Thus, throughout day and night, Mopalmo, and the men work hard to make weapons and to transport them onto wagons in teams, while Bubunno and Buwuiyeom continue training their troops. Soseono teaches a group of women how to make arrows too as everyone seems to pitch in on the war effort in Jolbon. Near Hyeonto, Ohyi and Moogol spock out the location of the Gojoseon remnants working as slaves, and they sneak into the camp as slaves, checking out the harsh working condition and the violence the soldiers use to push the slaves. In the Hyeonto fort, Dongseon tells Yangjeong the citizens of Jolbon are helping to prepare for the war as well, and Yangjeong suddenly gets an idea and ask the prime minister how many remnants are among them, and the minister says they are approximately 500. Yangjeong says when the war happens, he will have the slaves killed since that will hinder Ju Mong. The prime minister says that is an excellent strategy. Just then Minister Hwang comes in and Yangjeong angrily asks why there hasn’t been news from Chang-ahn yet. Minister Hwang asks Yangjeong why he is so lacking in confidence, when Yangjeong already has many more soldiers than Ju Mong. Meanwhile Yeongpo tells Majin they should flee Hyeonto and return to Buyeo before Daeso takes father king’s power. Majin says it may not be the best time since it is dangerous, and Minister Hwang is not yet the Hyeonto governor, and it might be better for them to wait til Yangjeong is rid of first so they can have Hwang’s support. Yeongpo is not convinced as he says if Daeso takes over Buyeo control then it will all be too late. Majin says he will think of another strategy.
Back in Buyeo, Seolran pleads Daeso to help her father Yangjeong, but Daeso tells her to wait for him to come up with a solution. Seolran says every hour is urgent, but Daeso doesn’t response. Daeso goes to meet the queen next. The queen and her brother, the palace minister urge Daeso not to help Yangjeong this time even though they received help from Hyeonto before, because if they do then they will put Buyeo in dire state. Daeso says he know it is difficult, but he is not saying he wants to help his father in law, but if they lose Hyeonto, then they will lose their alliance, and thus he is leaning on helping Hyeonto for their future. Yeongpo expresses his concern over Ju Mong attacking Hyeonto, and Minister Hwang says with over 20 thousand soldiers here, Hyeonto will not fall easily, but the question is whether Yangjeong will protect Hyeonto barely, or will he win in glory. Minister Hwang says in order of Yangjeong to shine he will have to win gloriously, and Yeongpo without thinking says if that is the case then it will be hard for Minister Hwang to take over Hyeonto. Hwang suddenly asks Yeongpo about the tea they’re having, and tells Yeongpo the tea is especially given to him by his relative who was recently promoted, as it a rare tea only served to the imperial family. Yeongpo congrats Hwang on his relative’s promotion, and Hwang says his relative asked him to come back to Chang-ahn to help in the palace, but that he declined and asked the relative to help him gain power in Hyeonto instead. Thus, Hwang assures Yeongpo he will surely be the next governor of Hyeonto. Meanwhile, Yuri is wondering around the courtyard looking for Yesoya, and when Yeongpo walks out he is shocked to see Yuri. Yeongpo then follows Yuri as he wonder off, and when Yuri goes to his mother Yesoya, Yeongpo who watches from distance is shocked, then gets an idea in his head. Majin finds out what happened, and reports to Yeongpo, that Minister Hwang picked up Yesoya and Yuri thinking they were refugees and it seems Hwang still doesn’t know who Yesoya is. Majin further states as the men say, Minister Hwang seems to be fond of Yesoya. Majin asks Yeongpo what he will do, and Yeongpo says this is an opportunity for him sent by the heavens and he will use it well for his gain. Thus, at night time, Yeongpo sends masked men to sneak into Yesoya’s chamber and the men first awakes Yesoya and orders her to wake Yuri. Yuri awakes and cries, and one of the men takes him away. Next, the two other men kidnap Yesoya out too, and the men bring them before prince Yeongpo and Majin. Yeongpo tells Soya it’s been long time since they saw each other, and Yeongpo glances at Yuri and tells Yuri it’s been a long time as well.
At the Hyeonto slave concentration camp. The remnants are sleep after a day of slavery work, but Ohyi and Moogol are awake and they soon wake up the sleeping men in their tent. Ohyi tells them he is a Damul army who serves commander Ju Mong, and he is here to help the remnants. Ohyi says soon, Jolbon will come to battle Hyeonto, and when the war breaks, Han nation will likely kill them off, thus they must save themselves before that. Ohyi asks everyone to be extra careful before the time comes so that the Han army will not become suspicious. Yesoya and Yuri are sent to a prison cell somewhere, and a tearful Soya wonders what the future holds for her child and her. Just then, Minister Hwang is notified that Yesoya and Yuri are gone, and Hwang order them to be searched and captured immediately. Daylight breaks, and as the soldiers lead the slaves out from the camp to work again, Dongseon and Yangjeong’s minister arrives telling the soldiers they needn’t take them out anymore because soon they will use them in the war when Jolbon comes attacking. Meanwhile, Yeongpo tells Majin they will go to Jolbon next to make a deal with Ju Mong, but Majin is afraid saying they are throwing themselves in the tiger den. Yeongpo scoffs him and tells him not to be such a coward as he laughs. Thus, in Jolbon, Mari tells Ju Mong Prince Yeongpo has come, and Ju Mong is taken by surprise. Ju Mong goes out to meet Yeongpo, who tells Ju Mong he has come to make a deal. Jaesa tells Yeongpo to address Ju Mong with respect since Ju Mong is Jolbon’s chief commander. Yeongpo bows slightly, and Soseono asks Yeongpo if he came as messenger of Buyeo. Yeongpo says no and that he came for personal reason instead. Ju Mong invites him inside, and Yeongpo announces he has Yesoya and Yuri. everyone is shocked, and Mari asks if Yesoya and Yuri are really alive. Yeongpo says yes, and Jaesa says how they can believe such, and Majin asks if they really think they would come bluffing. Soseono asks what the deal he wants to make is. Yeongpo says first, Jolbon is not to attack Hyeonto and second, Jolbon is to attack Buyeo and afterwards, Ju Mong is to hand over Buyeo’s throne to Yeongpo. Yeongpo says if Ju Mong agrees to these conditions, then he will give Yesoya and Yuri to Ju Mong.
