The man offers to pay 30 Yang for each unit of salt, and Yuri becomes angry while his assistant shouts at the man saying they had previously agreed on 50 Yang per unit. The man shrugs off and says the Buk-ok soldiers will soon arrive thus it is best for them to finish the business now. Yuri speaks and says to forget the deal since he will not do business with him, and the man replies if the deal falls through it will be trouble and Yuri’s men urge him to go through with the deal. However, Yuri is firm and says he will not deal at that price and tells his men to prepare to leave. The opposing group starts to attack Yuri’s group, and Yuri’s men fight back. Yuri’s group appears to be quicker with their sword and soon the man stops the fight and shouts out he will do business at the originally agreed upon price. Meanwhile, in Jang-ryeong village near Buk-ok country border, Yesoya who is working as a maid at the eatery coughs up some blood and the inn woman comes to her, but Yesoya says it is nothing, and tells the woman not to tell Yuri about it. Yuri and his two assistants are sitting across from the merchant lord who pays Yuri for going on the business for him, and Yuri looks at the bag of money and asks the lord if he plans on stop using them and states perhaps they should stop going on these life-risking trips for him. The lord hands Yuri another bag of money and tells Yuri to come work under him from now on. Yuri says nothing, and the lord promises Yuri if he comes in as his apprentice then he will be entrusted with the merchant group and given opportunity to make big money. Yuri says he won’t come work for him and the lord says he is offering to give Yuri a powerful position in their merchant group, but Yuri replies he cannot work under anyone.

Jumong-episode-74bThe merchant lord’s assistant is about to pull out his sword, but the lord stops him and tells Yuri to come back if he ever changes his mind. Yuri leaves, and the assistant asks why he let Yuri go, but the lord says they still need him since no one else can go on such dangerous trips for them. Yuri and his two boys walk back, and one of the boy thanks Yuri and says it was a great thing for him and the other boy to work for Yuri even though Yuri is younger than them or else they wouldn’t have such opportunity to make money, and the other boy agrees. At the eatery, a drunken man lusts after Yesoya telling her to spend the night with him, dragging her by the wrist toward a room. Just then Yuri comes and stops the drunkard and kicks him away. The inn woman tells Yuri to escort Yesoya away, and afterwards the woman scolds his son for hanging out with Yuri saying she told him it was a bad thing already. Yuri and Yesoya are walking away, and Yuri tells Yesoya to stop working. Soya says nothing, and Yuri calls out mother to her. Soya says in order to buy scrolls she will have to work, and tells Yuri she is happiest when he is learning to read and write. Yuri hands her medicine, and Soya asks him where he got the money to buy such medicine, asking if he is really hanging out with Lord Waipyo. Soya becomes upset and Yuri says it is no use for him to study since while he studied, her illness only became more severe. Yuri says as long as he can earn money to make her life more comfortable he is willing to do any work.

Jumong-episode-74cIn Goguryeo palace, King Ju Mong has returned with a shoulder wound. King Ju Mong drinks some alcohol to ease his pain and tells the doctor to operate on him, as Queen Soseono and guard commander Hyeopbo watch. Afterwards, Soseono asks Ju Mong if he is aright and he says it’s fine. Ju Mong then asks Hyeopbo if their group from Haeng-in nation has sent news back yet, and Hyeopbo says not yet. Ju Mong says something must have gone wrong in Haeng-in and tells Hyeopbo to prepare for his departure as he will check on the group in Haeng-in himself. Soseono says the king must stop fighting in battle himself and take care of his body instead. Ju Mong says if he doesn’t show up in battles then the generals and soldiers will be disheartened, and Goguryeo is a nation which has a long way to travel yet. Just then Mari comes in with news that their generals who went to Haeng-in nation have returned. Ju Mong and Soseono go out to welcome them back, and Ohyi, together with Moogol, Buwuiyeom and Bubunno report to Ju Mong they have conquered the nation of Haeng-in as Ju Mong had commissioned and since they use the tactic of assassins they were able to avoid grand loss of lives. Ju Mong says they did well, and Soseono tells the king she will prepare a feast to celebrate. Meanwhile, in the Goguryeo weapon factory, Prince Ohnjo, the 2nd prince of Goguryeo nation, asks Mopalmo to come and check on his newly made sword. Mopalmo easily breaks it to the prince’s dismay but Mopalmo laughs and tells the prince not to be too disappointed as he did the same many times over when he first started. Gyepil comes to scold the prince and afterwards Gyepil tells Mopalmo there is a celebration feast for the returned generals in the palace, thus Mopalmo should hurry and attend. During the feast Ohyi thanks Mopalmo for his contribution and Mopalmo says it is also thanks to Prince Ohnjo. Ohnjo says he is now Captain Mopalmo’s assistant captain and Ju Mong tells Ohnjo to take on greater tasks in the factory for Goguryeo. Ohnjo smiles and agrees, calling Ju Mong, father king. Ju Mong then asks where Prince Biryu is, and Hyeopbo replies Prince Biryu is at the border and they have already sent messenger to fetch him. Minister Jaesa tells Ju Mong his sons are working so hard for the nation and this is all due to the great fortune of Ju Mong. Ju Mong raises the goblet and the gathered drinks, and then Sayong speaks up and tells the king they are pestered by the Buk-ok tribe and they should conquer Buk-ok next. Jaesa agrees with Sayong’s assessment and says unless they conquer Buk-ok they won’t have peace with their southern neighbors. However Ju Mong states he will come up with a plan to acquire Buk-ok without a bloody fight, and just then Prince Biryu returns and asks the king to send him to Buk-ok. Prince Biryu states he will find a way to conquer Buk-ok without battle, but Soseono says she won’t allow it since Biryu is still too inexperienced and the matter is too serious. Biryu complains he wants a chance too since he has nothing to do when all the other ministers and generals are taking care of all matters. Ju Mong thinks over it and announces he will send Biryu on the mission.

Jumong-episode-74dLater, Yeonchaeryeong says she can’t understand the king, and tells Soseono and the Gyeru group that they have to stop it. Soseono asks Biryu if he still insists, and Biryu says he will go. Yeontabal arrives and says if Biryu wants to go then they should let him, and reminds Queen Soseono she went on merchant trips when she was a young’in too and through her experiences gained she eventually rose to be the queen of Goguryeo, and in the same vein, Prince Biryu must gain experience in order to be future king of Goguryeo. Soseono says she was short-sighted, and tells Biryu to go and be cautious. Chansoo says he will accompany Biryu thus the queen shouldn’t worry too much. Next, Mari, Ohyi and Hyeopbo visit with King Ju Mong, and Ju Mong says he called them so have another cup of wine together. Ju Mong pours wine in the trio’s goblets and says he can’t even remember when the last time they sat together like this was, and Mari says they have been busy building up their nation’s power. Ju Mong agrees they have lived under much pressure and now they can take a breather finally. Hyeopbo says they have become a strong and flourishing nation, and Ju Mong agrees saying now all that is left is to go against Han nation. Ohyi tells Ju Mong they are prepared for the king’s order and once that’s given they will seize Yeodong fort and attack toward Chang-ahn capitol. Ju Mong drinks more with the trio, and tells Ohyi he still worries for Ohyi who is still single. Ohyi apologizes for making him worried, and Ju Mong says Hyeopbo is not in a position to marry, but all the other ministers and generals are married with heirs, and Ohyi should marry too. Ohyi says nothing, and Hyeopbo asks Ohyi if he is single because he can’t forget Buyeong, and Ohyi says that’s not the only reason, and tells Ju Mong he is content just serving the king. Ju Mong tells the trio even though they don’t share the same blood they are brothers deeper than blood and thus they should put everything aside and drink to their content on this night. Back in Jang-ryeong, Yesoya sits alone in a dark room, remembering the image of Ju Mong marrying Soseono on the day the nation of Goguryeo was proclaimed. Soya thinks over this and tears roll down her face.

Jumong-episode-74eIn Yeodong fort, Governor Hwang gets news that Goguryeo has conquered Haeng-in and Hwang’s advisor states Yeodong is Goguryeo’s next target. Afterwards, Prince Yeongpo comforts Governor Hwang, telling him he has a plan to seize Goguryeo without moving Yeodong army. Hwang asks how and Yeongpo says Hwang has been taking care of him and it is time for him to repay Hwang back. Next, Yeongpo tells Majin he has worked really hard to earn all this money in Han and now it’s time for him to go back to Buyeo to show them his success and be acknowledged for his skills at last. Back in Buyeo, the doctor checks on sleeping King Geumwa, and the doctor reports to Prince Daeso it will be hard for Geumwa to recover from his ailment. Daeso asks Mawuryeong if she can help and she says she will put up a shrine but it seems difficult. Daeso looks at Budeukbul who says he will gather the ministers and alert them about the king’s condition. Just then Naro comes with news Prince Yeongpo has returned. Yeongpo wanders around the Buyeo palace and states the palace is more gloom then before. Majin replies since all of Buyeo’s subject tribes have gone over to Goguryeo it is only natural that Buyeo is suffering in its condition. The queen comes out weeping and Yeongpo says there was never one day when he didn’t miss her. The palace minister asks Yeongpo if it’s true that Yeongpo really brought lots of treasure and textiles to Buyeo. Yeongpo says indeed and Majin says Yeongpo is a great successful merchant in Chang-ahn and what they brought is nothing for Yeongpo. Yeongpo smiles and tells the queen now he will step forward and find a way for Buyeo to survive. Daeso comes and asks Yeongpo what he can really do for Buyeo when he is already a Han person. Yeongpo greets him with a smile and says it’s been a long time. Daeso asks again why Yeongpo is here and Yeongpo says he is still a prince of Buyeo and since Buyeo is in trouble he is here to help, and Daeso stares down at him. The queen breaks the tension and tells Yeongpo to hurry and pay Geumwa a visit and thus Yeongpo moves on. Songju helps Geumwa sit up as Yeongpo enters and Yeongpo blames Daeso for letting Geumwa’s health fall. Geumwa says he had heard that Yeongpo became a big merchant in Han, and Yeongpo presents precious medicine he brought from Han for King Geumwa. In court, Yeongpo assures deputy king Daeso he will persuade the Han imperial to join alliance with Buyeo again so that they can conquer Goguryeo together. Daeso wonders if Yeongpo has such skills, and Yeongpo laughs saying he does thus Daeso needn’t worry. Daeso tells Yeongpo to stay out of Buyeo as he will decide for himself its future, and tells Yeongpo not to bribe Buyeo with goods just to spy over Buyeo for Han. Yeongpo is pissed and warns Daeso he will regret this and Yeongpo leaves.

Jumong-episode-74fMeanwhile, in Jeong-ryeong village, Yesoya is working at the inn again and the merchant lord’s man comes telling Yuri he is being summoned. Yuri goes with the man and Yesoya calls out Yuri worried, but Yuri tells her not to worry. Yuri arrives by the merchant lord’s base, and is told he will be given a great opportunity to earn a ton of money and asks Yuri if he will accept the job. Yuri asks what job it is and the lord says to say yes or no first. Yuri says he will take the job, and the merchant takes Yuri out the mountain where Prince Yeongpo is waiting. The merchant goes up to Yeongpo and whispers something, while Yuri wonders who Yeongpo is. The merchant returns with a box of armors and Yuri asks again what the task is. The merchant says Yuri needn’t know the details but just to follow what he is told. The merchant tells Yuri and his group that the armor is Buyeo soldier attire, and orders Yuri and the others to put it on. Next, at night time, Yuri and his group dressed in Buyeo soldier attire wait as they are told by Buk-ok merchant. After some time pass, a group of Goguryeo soldiers pass by, led by Biryu, Sayong and Chansoo. The Buk-ok merchant tells Yuri and his group to attack and a fight breaks out. Yuri wounds Biryu in the process and Yuri proceeds nearly killing Biryu, but is stopped by Chansoo. As the Goguryeo group is about to be eliminated, Yeongpo watches from afar nodding in satisfaction. Next morning, Biryu returns to Goguryeo with a deep wound in his arm, accompanied by Sayong and Chansoo. Ju Mong and Soseono go out to meet them and Ju Mong shouts asking what happened. Biryu only apologizes and Sayong speaks up to say their merchant group was attacked by Buyeo assassins. A court session is held next, and Ju Mong’s ministers and generals are furious that they were attacked by Buyeo, saying the two nations were able to avoid war because Goguryeo never attacked Buyeo, but now that they attacked first they must attack back at once. Jaesa states since Geumwa is ill Daeso must be behind it, and Hyeopbo urges Ju Mong to give the order for attack at once. Ju Mong is hesitant, however, and meets with his advisors in private next. Ju Mong tells the trios he does not wish to engage in a bloody war with Buyeo, and wonders if there’s something else going on behind the attack. Ju Mong tells Ohyi to go down to Buk-ok border to find out if it really was Buyeo soldiers who attacked Biryu and tells him to be cautious on his trip. Meanwhile, in Buk-ok, Yeongpo hands a box of silver to the Buk-ok merchant for his job well done, and the merchant drops his jaw seeing how much silver he has been paid. Yeongpo warns him again to keep the incident a secret no matter what, and after the merchant leaves, Yeongpo tells Majin once Goguryeo attacks Buyeo, he will bring Han army to help Buyeo, but once he has Buyeo in his grasp he will seize control of Buyeo.

Jumong-episode-74gOhyi, Moogol, and Mookgeo arrive in Buk-ok border and search through the war zone where Goguryeo merchant soldiers were attacked. They find the arrows used by the Buyeo soldiers different from typical Buyeo arrows, and Ohyi is suspicious. They go through the border village of Jang-ryeong to find more info, and they determine Han nation must be behind the attack. Mookgeo and Moogol urge Ohyi to return to Goguryeo at once to report their finding to the king. Just as Ohyi is about to leave he sees Yesoya passing by from a short distance away and Ohyi is shocked. Ohyi then tries to follow her to find her but after running around for a while he is unable to find her again. Ohyi returns to Goguryeo to report to Ju Mong the attackers were not Buyeo soldiers and Han nation seems behind it, just like Ju Mong had suspected. Ju Mong nods and tells Ohyi he will write a message thus Ohyi is to send it to the king of Buk-ok afterwards. Ohyi says yes, and gets up to leave, but hesitates and turns back at last. Ju Mong asks what Ohyi wants to say, and Ohyi pauses, then reports he saw Yesoya in the village near Buk-ok border. Ju Mong is startled, and asks Ohyi to repeat what he just said. Hyeopbo asks Ohyi if it’s true that Yesoya is alive, and Ohyi replies, though he was not able to find her again due to the people passing by, he is certain he saw Yesoya.
