This won’t sit well with Filipino men…
Results of a recent survey by the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) might trouble some Filipino men’s egos.

According to this data from the last five years, there are more women holding supervisory positions than men.
“Today no profession is closed to the Filipino woman ‘except…being a priest in the Roman Catholic Church.’ Once allowed just an inch in the workplace half a century ago, women have since managed to ram a truck through that small crack — and have pretty much run over many of their male competitors” observed economist Solita Monsod as reported by Jaileen Jimeno of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism.
What’s more interesting, Jimeno attributes the lagging performance of men in the workplace to the ‘favored status’ boys enjoyed when they were young that may have “weaken(ed) their ability to handle the demands of the home and the workplace in their grown-up years.”
OUCH.
A Project Y2001 results also observed that Filipino girls had it harder when it came to household chores, being trained early as “surrogate homemakers”. Meanwhile, Filipino boys enjoyed more freedom from parental control, which turned them into “spoiled teenagers” and “irresponsible fathers” later on in life.
MORE OUCH.
