Who tops Google for ‘Paradise Philippines’ SEO Contest?

When Marc Macalua started another SEO Philippines contest, I immiediately got interested.

The competition Bayanihan SEO Philippines” is all about promoting the Philippines as a place of paradise, boosting our image as a tourism destination.

Not that I participated, but I was interested in how other bloggers will market our tourist spots in their sites. So today, I googled the SEO keywords “paradise philippines” and clicked on the top sites. Some got me hooked, others were “uhhmmm, well…”.

Today’s top sites in Google (i.e., filled the first page) totally disappoint. The sites didn’t update their content regularly and some were really only several posts long. Most of them though did have the keyword in their titles and scattered through the post. Most didn’t have pictures at all too.

Paradise Philippines. I thought the really great travel blogs should showcase each province or city and highlight what was breathtaking about them. And, a good site I would go back to updated the site daily. So if I were a traveler interested in finding more about the Philippines, I would instead go to the following blogs below (ranking based on my liking) -

1. Philippine Islands Paradise (http://www.philippine-islands-paradise.blogspot.com/) I thought this was a great travelogue of the Philippines, highlighting one spot/province/city each day. It’s chock-full of information, with pictures and videos that allow the visitor a view of the place. On other days it posts resources for travelling and a directory/archive of all the regional spots. Unfortunately, it didn’t show up on Google’s top pages today. I wonder why, when it’s actually the most comprehensive site among all the sites I visited recently.

2. Wow Paradise Philippines (http://www.wowparadisephilippines.com/) Here is another blog that updates more than the others that actually was in Google’s page one. It’s quite informative and focuses more on local festivals than tourist destinations. Unfortunately there are no images at all, which would have been more enticing for the travel enthusiast.

3. Paradise Philippines http://www.goparadisephilippines.com/. This blog has promise in that it has a variety of content, from personal story of the author’s Tondo days, to a listing of hotels, reasons to visit the Philippines. Unfortunately, it’s also only several posts long and a month of hiatus between the August 21 post and the one before. BUT, I found it on Google’s page one.

More power to these blogs and more as they participate in the contest!

It is a good practice to proofread your articles before publishing them. Readers get turned-off when you see misspelled words and incorrect grammar. The little time spent to consult the dictionary, is well worth it. Thank you.

Rosslily, thanks for the reminder. I ‘immediately’ ‘updated’ the post. Sometimes one does need help from readers to point these out. :-)

Observing proper grammar is good but i don’t think one should get easily turned off with this type of error. What is more important is the thought and the message it brings.
