World’s largest python lives in Bohol

Now this I would love pictures of!

A 25-foot python named “Prony, the world’s largest, lives in Upper Santa Fe, Alburquerque, Bohol.

Found in a cemetery in 1996 by her caretaker-cum-’dad’ Sofronio Salibay, the female reticulated python soon grew to a 200-kilo, 25-feet long and 28-feet wide anaconda.

“Her growth is very abnormal,” Manang Jingjing Salibay says. “Reptile experts from London Zoo assigned by Charles Wartenberg, director of Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), Inc. informed us that her size is like a 40-year old python. Maybe because of how we cared for her.

We received an offer that will give us millions but we turned it downed. We are not after the money. “Prony” is not for sale. It’s our mission now to care her forever. Our family loves her very much. She’s a family treasure,” the lady sanctuary keeper admitted.

With the help of AKF and PepsiCo., the python is now in it’s own steel cage beside the house of the Salibays. “Prony” gets 300 visitors each day and already fascinated the likes of celebritites Cesar Montano and Patricia Javier, as well attracting foreign visitors.

How scary-cool is that! Only in the Philippines. :-)

Are these things carnivorous? If so, we could feed it Paris Hilton. But I guess that would be cruelty to animals.

snakes kill their victims by constriction, that is by coiling their bodies on the hapless victims, then snakes squeeze their coiling bodies on the victim until they die of suffocation/ and or internal bleeding then the snakes eat victims headfirst, this way the bodies victims go down into the stomach easily becuase the victims hands will just fold up .so they be careful with this type of animal.

    Well, unfortunately…

Prony is not the largest in the world.

A 48′ 8″ and 983 lbs python was found in Indonesia.

It is presently kept in captivity. It eats 4 dogs a month.

    How sad is that?

Unfortunately, Karin, the Indonesian python turned out to be a lot smaller than that, about 18′ long and maybe 400 pounds.

Still, I wouldn’t want to be locked in a room alone with it. It would probably be completely alone shortly afterward, if you know what I mean.

Rose, any chance you could post that photo somehow?

We visited Prony yesterday, she is going to moult and hasn’t eaten in 2 months. Besides the snake there was also a performance by a Bakla (gay) lip sync dancer singing “A Hero lies in you” while hanging from the rafters of a homemade stage in the jungle!

He/she stole the show! I laughed until I cried.

We had a super enjoyable day touring the sights, Choc Hills, Loboc River Cruise and Buffet, Loay Cave, Prony, and the old Church.

I have the photo of this and also the owner. Actually, the owner was as interesting as the phyton. When you go there, he will do a dance number complete with pole dancing! I will put up the photo on my blog http://www.catswalks.com tonight.
