Guilty verdict! The Joseph Estrada plunder case
I just heard this from my mom, who is listening live to the Joseph “ERAP” Estrada plunder case handled by the Sandiganbayan -
ESTRADA IS GUILTY OF PLUNDER AND IS GIVEN A LIFE SENTENCE, “reclusion perpetua”!
The deposed Philippine president will be stripped of all his properties. He will be committed to his residence at Tanay, Rizal, which is near a police camp.
ERAP’s son Jinggoy Estrada and lawyer Eduardo Serapio were not found guilty of plunder.
We definitely will hear more of this in the coming days.

Finally. The man deserves the GUILTY VERDICT. Now the nation can continue its progress. Erap is nothing but a top politician caught in his game. Plundering of more than P500 million from illegal gambling (jueteng), more than P200 million from his Muslim fund, and purchase of a P100 million mansion with a backyard white sandy beach is pure and simple evidence of CORRUPTION. If P1 million is given to every Filipino (98 million), there would only be millionaires and the poor would be gone forever. Unfortunately, ERAP returns on house arrest to his 37 acre vacation home, where he has been residing for the past 6 years. Finally, the Filipinos got justice.
i don’t support estrada and i think he got what he deserved but i don’t think justice has been completely served. i mean, if you are looking for real justice for Filipinos then Arroyo, her secretaries and her party mates should go under trial too.
Sorry Mr. Bonifacio for disagreeing your opinion.Now the nation can continue its progress? Its been years when Erap was facing this plunder case and Gloria is in the position but still I can’t see PROGRESS of the nation. Progress only for those who are already rich and in power. JUETENG is still running throughout the country especially in the provinces. Where is JUSTICE there. There are so many other politicians or people who are in power who are more corrupt than ERAP especially in Arroyo’s administration. Let’s say that GLORIA and her political advisers are wiser than ERAP, the main reason for ERAP’s downfall. The Sandigang Bayan’s decision is not in help with the nations/people peace and order especially in the nation’s progress. People will not be united but rather in chaos. And it will be inculcated in their minds that there is no really JUSTICE. The justice system in the Philippines is considered as “*****” for it is not really JUST. I’m not a pro-erap because I voted for Gloria during the election day but now “I REGRET” my vote because of my observations in her administration that the ideals and the aspirations of the people is not being crystalized that I think the main purpose of the government and since GLORIA is the head of the government she should lead the country in a better way for the peoples interest and not for her interest.

I’d just like to say na iba ang life imprisonment sa reclusion perpetua. The latter is serving in prison a maximum of 40 years.
Kaso, Erap is already 70 years old, so we will not know what will be the decision after 4-6 years kasi may parole daw. Counted na din ang 2 years imprisonment niya before.
But whatever has been the decision of the court, OK lang ako because I firmly believe in the integrity of the judges.
I know that hindi lang siya ang nangungurakot but this is a good start for our justice system. Para naman matauhan ang mga politicians.

This just means that he wasn’t carefull. He got caught which is a good thing, but not satisfying. How about the “hello garci” case and other illegal acts that were commited by the previous and present presidents and other politicians in power who also stole money from the Filipino citizens? They all should be investigated.
It’s sad to see some people’s comments here. Erap is guilty! He deserves what he got. Period. Wag nyo na sabihin na mas dapat makulong si GMA. that was the moment of truth. finally, the supreme court unfolds the verdict against ERAP. he really deserves it for he blundered on his people without knowing that he was just fooling himself. though the supreme court revealed the verdict, it can’t be said that they did well- they had a fair justice because if they had, they would also trial arroyo and its secretaries.

Keenly think about it, I am not totally sympathetic to Estrada as the president of our

Is it really the politicians that get all the blames for what our country has become? Why don’t we look at the voters (masa) who elected them to these posts? if there is to blame, it is the ignorance of the voters for not looking beyond the face and name recognition. I’m not saying that all voters are incompetent on issues that are relevant to the country and its’ people but unfotunately the majorities are. what we need is a grassroot program that educates our young to become a smart voter.we may never see the changes in our lifetime but it’s a start.
I do not think that ERAP should be granted with the pardon either Presidential or the so called Absolute and Unconditional pardon, I trust the credibility of the magistrates. Denouncing the Former President of that alleged case is congrous.
I personally do not like the decision of the Sandigang Bayan. It must be revised or else there will be another EDSA REvolution in the near future.

Some of you have interesting thoughts regarding corrupt politicians. However, and unfortunately, the guilty ones are caught only through their excessive greediness and stupidity. The fact remains that the “Majority” of our elected officials has taken at one time or another bribes or used their position to enriched their bankrolls. If you are to look at any elected official in your hometown, notice the significant changes in many of them in terms of financial showcasing.
(cars, home, parties, etc). How would you explain the fact that some of them spend millions
for a seat that pays very little? how can someone become an instant millionaire in a year or two for a job that pays just a few thousand a month?….Well, do you think it’s coming from illegal activities and the pork barrel that the government allocates each localities?…of course! Our Government is listed as one of the most corrupt in the world. 3rd in asia and within the top 25 in the world. so go ahead, tell me if iam wrong. I stand to be corrected.
Erap is GUILTY and that’s just right for him. Those commentators who still take sides of Erap are also korakots themselves or purely just not using their brains or having no brains at all. Oh well, you guys are just standing in one “tiny bit” straight line.
Yes, he was found guilty but there are many filipinos who are longing for his freedom..Well, thats life..

I think its just a popularity contest for politicians to let us think that they are doing something good for once and that justice is serve. But really, they only convicted one person. What about the rest of those thief’s whose still doing what they do best. Its definitely just bull…

ERAP IS OBVIOUSLY GUILTY. And He deserves more than house arrest. But I think, It’s not only Erap who does corruption. I’m sure ALMOST everyone in the government DOES! But yea, he got heck of A LOT money! I thought he would pay people just to “NOT PROVE HIM GUILTY” hehehe
