Jumong fans, we’re nearing the finish! Here’s Episode 78 of this popular Koreanovela :
***
King Ju Mong looks at Yuri with tearful eyes, and Hyeopbo asks aloud whether it is a dream or reality happening before them. Yuri is also tearful and asks the king if he is his father. Ju Mong replies he is indeed his father and Yuri then shouts out asking why he abandoned him and mother in that case, and asks Ju Mong whether he did so because he didn’t want them to block his future. Ju Mong is startled and calls out Yuri’s name, but Yuri continues and laments his childhood saying he is still haunted by the fear of being chased and thinking they would die any minute. Ju Mong pauses and says it is all his fault, and accepts he is the one who sinned against Yuri and Yesoya. Yuri shouts again asking Ju Mong to explain why he did such thing, and Ju Mong is unable to say anything. Hyeopbo cannot stand it anymore and he explains to Yuri the king did not abandon them rather he thought his wife and child were killed during their war with Hyeonto. Hyeopbo pleads Yuri to forgive the king, and Hyeopbo brings out the infant shoe they found from the field 15 years ago, and Hyeopbo tells Yuri King Ju Mong has been living in pain and guilt for failing to save his own wife and child, but Yuri states he cannot and will not forgive the king, since his mother never tried to look for him when she knew where he was and it is all because she felt they were abandoned by the king. Tears roll down Ju Mong’s face, and Ju Mong closes his eyes to weep silently. Yuri also weeps. Ju Mong finally speaks again and asks Yuri where his mother is, and Yuri says nothing, and Hyeopbo urges Yuri to reveal where Yesoya is. Next, Ohyi and Moogol are summoned by Ju Mong at night, and when they are allowed in, Ohyi is upset to see Yuri there thinking he is sent by Daeso of Buyeo. Hyeopbo tells the two to calm down and explains the young man is Prince Yuri and that Yuri and Yesoya survived the war 15 years ago. The two are shocked, and Ju Mong tells the two he will go to Buyeo to look for Yesoya thus they should prepare to depart. The generals tell Ju Mong to wait while they go and bring Yesoya back, but Ju Mong firmly states he cannot wait in the palace thus he must go, and orders the generals to prepare for departure immediately. Meanwhile, Yuri’s two friends are waiting by the gate and wonder if something went wrong with Yuri. Hyeopbo arrives and tells the two to follow him in, and the friend asks where Yuri is. Hyeopbo scolds the friends for calling out the prince’s name so carelessly, and the two friends gasp, then asks if Yuri is really the son of Goguryeo’s great king. Hyeopbo says yes and goes back into the gate, and the two friends follow.
Next, in the middle of the night, Ju Mong, Yuri, together with Moogol, Ohyi, and the two friends leave on fast horse headed for Buyeo. Queen Soseono who is alone in her room wonders who the visitor is that Ohnjo saw, and why he brought a broken knife asking to see the king. Next morning, Soseono goes to Ju Mong’s chamber and the guard tells her the king is not inside. Soseono asks where Ju Mong went and the guard says he doesn’t know. Soseono angrily asks how a guard who serves the king doesn’t know about it and orders him to go and fetch the head of guard immediately. Hyeopbo alerts Mari, Jaesa, and Mookgeo about what happened and the newly informed are worried about the king’s safety. Mari is upset that Hyeopbo allowed the king to go himself on such a dangerous trip and Hyeopbo explains he had no choice. Jaesa and Mookgeo state even though they have joined alliance with Buyeo, King Daeso cannot be trusted and he could turn against King Ju Mong anytime. Mari continues to scold Hyeopbo for failing to stop the king from going, and Hyeopbo shouts out even he was shaken by the news that Yesoya is alive, and imagine how King Ju Mong must have felt. Hyeopbo says he cannot believe the boy who fought in the fights competition in Buyeo was none other than Prince Yuri himself. Next, Jaesa tells them once Yesoya is here things will get messy at the palace, since they have already swore themselves to serve Soseono as their queen, but they can’t make Yesoya a concubine either since she was the first wife of Ju Mong. Jaesa sighs and says Prince Yuri’s presence will also be a challenge here in terms of their future. Just then, the king’s servant comes in telling Hyeopbo Queen Soseono has summoned him. Hyeopbo goes to Soseono who is angry when Hyeopbo says nothing about where Ju Mong is. Soseono scolds Hyeopbo for such and orders him to go and find out where the king is this very moment. Soseono is about to leave, but Hyeopbo stops her, and explains the king has gone to Buyeo. The queen asks why he would go there, and Hyeopbo says Yesoya and Yuri are still alive. Soseono is shocked, and Hyeopbo continues to say the king has left for Buyeo to save Yesoya. Startled, Soseono then asks about the young man who came with the broken knife, and Hyeopbo confirms he is Prince Yuri, and the broken knife was a proof of identity the king gave Yesoya a long time ago. Soseono is rendered speechless, and after a pause she says if the king only left with Ohyi and Moogol then they will be in danger and Soseono tells Hyeopbo to send more men to Buyeo right away, but Hyeopbo says since the matter is sensitive they should not make a public deal just yet. Soseono then goes out the palace balcony where she feels her body shake.
Meanwhile in Yodong fort, Yeongpo and Majin are frantic trying to find a way to escape from the prison. Yeongpo summons the prison ward and tells him he is a rich merchant and if the ward saves him he will be awarded with enough money to live on for the rest of his life. The ward says the governor is furious thus what could they do, and Yeongpo says he just needs to follow his instructions and the ward seems moved. Back in Buyeo, Queen Wonhu tells Daeso Yeongpo is about to be killed in Yodong thus they must save him, regardless of what mistakes Yeongpo has done in the past, especially since Yeongpo already redeemed himself by helping Buyeo with the money he earned in Han nation. The queen begs Daeso to help Yeongpo, and Daeso thinks over it, and takes the matter to his ministers. Budeukbul announces he will go to Yodong himself to meet with the governor to save Yeongpo, and Daeso tells Heukchi to escort Budeukbul to Yodong fort in that case and the head general agrees. Afterwards, Daeso asks Naro why the guard named San Cheon is missing and asks Naro to bring him before him and Naro goes to find San Cheon (Yuri). Outside Buyeo city center, Yesoya and the inn woman are trying to escape but Yesoya falls to her feet and coughs up blood again. The woman becomes frantic wondering what she can do, and Yesoya loses consciousness as she faints to the ground. Ju Mong and his men have arrived in Buyeo, and Yuri’s friends return from Yuri’s old home telling the men something must have happened while Yuri was away as Yesoya and the other woman have left already with all their stuff gone as well. Yuri’s friend then tells Yuri the Buyeo palace guards came by looking for Yuri, and Yuri then tells Ju Mong he will go back to look for mother, since they have been on the run many times before and in a time like this mother always left him a sign, thus she must have left something for Yuri about her whereabouts. Ju Mong tells Yuri he will go too, but Yuri says not to and tells Ju Mong not to worry. Yuri then leaves with his two friends, and when Yuri arrives at his old home, he finds a scroll note left in a barrel for him by Yesoya. However, just as the three are about to leave, Naro arrives with his group of guards and scolds Yuri for not showing up to work and demands Yuri to go with him at once. Yuri states his mother is ill thus he cannot agree to it, and Naro gets furious, and as Yuri tries to run the guards stop them and Naro tells the guards to drag Yuri and his friends to the palace at once. Naro warns Yuri if he tries to disobey again then his friends will be killed as well. Next, Ohyi and Moogol arrive with their faces masked and they attempt to save Yuri and his friends from Naro’s men. Yuri joins in as he kills off Buyeo guards, and Ohyi injures Naro, and the Goguryeo people escape.
Naro returns to the palace, and reports to Daeso some unknown men came to save Yuri and Yuri attacked their guards as well. Daeso is angry and demands why San Cheon would do such, and Naro says according to the oracle the boy San Cheon is a bad omen for King Daeso. Daeso wonders angrily how a mere boy like San Cheon could block his future, and just then, Yang Seolran has come to see the oracle, and she asks Mawuryeong if she can do a curse on someone. Mawuryeong replies that depends on who, and Yang Seolran says who else would it be, and it is none other than Ju Mong who killed her father. Seolran says unless Ju Mong is dead she cannot live one day in peace, and Seolran asks Mawuryeong to put a deadly curse on Ju Mong, and when Mawuryeong begins to shake nervously, Seolran asks again if she will agree to it, and Mawuryeong replies yes. Meanwhile, it is nighttime, and in a cave somewhere the inn woman has Yesoya resting in her arms and the woman cries out asking where Yuri is, as Yesoya is still unconscious. Yuri, Ju Mong, and the men arrive and Yuri runs to Yesoya calling out mother. Soya barely opens her eyes and sees that Yuri has come, but next she opens her eyes more and she sees Ju Mong walking towards her. At last Ju Mong stands before her, and Ju Mong calls out Yesoya as his wife. Soya is overwhelmed and as she weeps she tries to call out Ju Mong as the king, but she soon faints again, and Ju Mong with his eyes tearful grabs onto her face as he calls out to her. Back in Buyeo, Yeontabal and Sayong meet with Soseono upon hearing the news that Yesoya and Yuri are alive. Soseono tells the two King Ju Mong is now in Buyeo to bring Yesoya here. Yeontabal says if that is the case then it is fortunate since the king has been in pain over them all these years. Sayong says though it is fortunate he is worried about the future and the disarray that will occur, saying Prince Yuri might be one who will be favored over Biryu and Ohnjo, but Soseono stops him from talking as she glares at him, and Soseono warns Sayong if anyone should cause trouble over Yesoya and Yuri’s existence in Goguryeo she will not forgive that person. Sayong sighs and says nothing, and Soseono tells Yeontabal she asked to see him because she was worried that the Goguryeo ministers might have some worry like Sayong does, and Soseono asks Yeontabal to make sure that doesn’t happen.
In the Goguryeo weapon factory, Mopalmo shows the Hwang-to (yellow earth) to Prince Ohnjo, explaining to the prince that the yellow earth is what helped him succeed in making steel swords, and just then Musong runs in and pulls Mopalmo to the side and whispers in Mopalmo’s ears about Yesoya and Yuri. Mopalmo asks if that is really true, and Musong says the king already brought Yesoya back. Next, the palace doctor checks on Yesoya as King Ju Mong watches, and outside in the courtyard, the trios wait as Prince Yuri changes his attire. When Yuri comes out, the trios tell him his chamber is ready. Just then Mopalmo comes and the trios introduce Prince Yuri to Mopalmo, who weeps as he calls out to Prince Yuri. Mopalmo kneels before Yuri and says he has sinned against him, and thanks Yuri for being alive like this. Mopalmo weeps aloud more, as Yuri appears puzzled. The trios watch as Mopalmo cries out his guilt and emotions as Yuri continues to watch in puzzlement. Back in Yodong fort, Governor Hwang watches as a group of assassins are getting trained, and Governor Hwang tells the assassins that their duty is to go to Goguryeo to destroy Goguryeo’s weapon chamber. Just then, a messenger arrives telling Hwang an envoy has come from Buyeo. Hwang meets with Budeukbul and Heukchi, but Hwang is furious over Buyeo joining alliance with Goguryeo and says there is nothing else to talk about. Budeukbul reminds Hwang he is at fault for it as well, and Hwang appears puzzled. Heukchi reminds Hwang the attackers who tried to kill Ju Mong in Buyeo mountain were organized by Hwang, and Hwang says nothing. Budeukbul says since Hwang tried to do such but failed, Buyeo had no choice but to join hands with Goguryeo for the time being, thus Han cannot blame Buyeo for their action. Budeukbul urges Hwang to make a clear judgment in regard to Buyeo, and Hwang asks what it is that they want from him. Budeukbul says first is to free Prince Yeongpo and allow him to return to Buyeo palace. Next, Budeukbul and Heukchi arrive in the Yodong prison and Yeongpo is elated to see them there. Yeongpo pleads them to save him, and Budeukbul says there is a condition to save him, which is that after Yeongpo is saved, he is to give up all his riches to Buyeo. Yeongpo is reluctant but Majin says who cares about the money if they are dead then there’s no use, and Yeongpo agrees to Budeukbul’s condition.
Out by the river, Soseono thinks over the recent events alone as her guard watches from distance. Sayong and the two princes come, and Soseono asks her sons to walk with her. As they stroll, Prince Ohnjo says things are strange in the palace and asks Soseono if something’s happened. Soseono turns around and faces Biryu, and tells Biryu the river they are standing by is called Biryu river, and when the Jolbon Goguryeo people were thirsty it quenched their need, and thus they named Biryu after the river hoping he would be like the river. Ohnjo asks about the meaning of his name, and Soseono replies he was named Ohnjo so that he would be a man with warm heart. Soseono asks her sons if they know who the one who named them was, and Ohnjo replies it was their deceased father. Soseono says that is correct, and Prince Biryu states even though their deceased father is the one who named them, the father who raised them is the king. Soseono asks the two if they know that the king has another son, and Biryu replies he had heard that the son was held hostage in Buyeo palace and later died. Soseono says the son is alive, and Biryu and Ohnjo are shocked. Soseono continues, and states the king had thought his wife and son died, and thus he married her, but the wife and son were alive all this time, and now, they have come to the palace. Biryu asks what they are to do then, and Soseono tells them not to waver, and to remember the meaning behind their names, as they must welcome the king’s first wife and son warmly. Soseono asks if they understand her words, and the two princes say nothing. Just then Hyeopbo arrives telling her the king is looking for her. Hyeopbo escorts Soseono to Ju Mong and Ju Mong dismisses him. Ju Mong asks Soseono to sit by him and Ju Mong states there is something he wants to tell her. Soseono says she already knows Yesoya and Yuri are in the palace. Ju Mong states he should’ve told her sooner but he didn’t have a chance. Ju Mong says Yesoya has gone through years of hardship and is now in dire health, and if she should die like this, then he has no way to atone his sins. Soseono tells the king not to worry, and that Yesoya will surely recover. Soseono then states once Yesoya is recovered, she will serve Yesoya as the queen, and she believes that is her fate. Ju Mong is speechless and watches her as Soseono continues and states the king needn’t worry about Biryu and Ohnjo either, as Goguryeo will surely prepare to battle Han nation with one united heart. Ju Mong is touched but he only calls out Soseono as his wife, and Soseono is also without words. Next, Soseono visits Yesoya who is still unconscious, and Soseono watches Soya, then tells the sleeping Soya that no matter how hard she thinks, she is not sure what the will of the heaven is for the two of them to be like this, but Soseono says regardless of what the will of the heaven is, the person before her must get well. Soseono grabs Yesoya’s hand, and tells Soya that the king is waiting for her to awake and thus she should hurry and regain her strength.
The palace doctor tells the king Yesoya has awaken, and Ju Mong is happy telling the doctor he has done great. The doctor says however, since her illness is deep, it will be hard for her to recover. At this, Ju Mong pleads telling the doctor to heal her no matter what it takes. Ju Mong goes by Yesoya’s bedside, and Soya says she has caused burden on him yet again, and asks him to forgive her. Ju Mong says that is nonsense and asks Yesoya to give him opportunity to repay his debt to her. At this Yesoya looks away as she sighs tearfully. Meanwhile inside the palace, Yeonchaeryeong, Yangtak, and Chansoo watch as the newly arrived Prince Yuri moves about. Yeonchaeryeong says soon there will be announcement of who will be crown prince and thus they must keep a close eye on the matter. Next Prince Ohnjo asks Biryu what they should do now that Prince Yuri is here, and Biryu assures Ohnjo not to worry, saying Ohnjo has gained an older brother, while he has gained a younger one. Hyeopbo brings Prince Yuri to Biryu and Ohnjo and the princes bow to greet each other. Biryu tells Yuri he didn’t know their fate was so special, and tells Yuri since he is older than Yuri he will cherish Yuri as a younger brother from now on. Yuri says nothing, and Biryu tells Ohnjo from now he is to serve Yuri as an older brother. Ohnjo replies yes but he appears hesitant, and Hyeopbo laughs saying how pleased he is that the princes are welcoming Prince Yuri so warmly, and Hyeopbo urges Prince Ohnjo to call Prince Yuri ‘older brother’ once and Ohnjo calls Yuri ‘older brother’ while Yuri says nothing. Next, the inn woman and Yuri’s friends are brought before Prince Yuri and the inn woman calls out to Yuri happily, but the friends hold her back, and Jaesa scolds the woman and reminds her Prince Yuri is the prince of Goguryeo thus they should be respectful. The woman and the friends bow before prince Yuri, and Mari tells the friends from now on the two friends will be guards in the palace serving prince Yuri, and Mari then tells the woman she will be a maid to Yesoya from now on. Next, Mari tells Prince Yuri he must begin training in arts scholarship, and Jaesa tells Yuri they have prepared martial arts master and scholar to help him.
However, Yuri goes to Mopalmo in the weapon factory, and asks Mopalmo for help. Next, Mopalmo tells the king and the advisors that Prince Yuri has asked to work in the iron factory, and Mopalmo says it seems the prince is not yet comfortable in palace life. Mari says that cannot be, but Ju Mong tells them to allow it, and says Yuri must still harbor some resentment toward him, thus he is unable to let his heart free yet, and they have to give Yuri some time. King Ju Mong then asks Mopalmo to help Yuri, and Mopalmo agrees to order. Thus, Prince Yuri begins laboring away in the iron factory and on this night, King Ju Mong comes by and watches quietly, with a satisfied look. Mopalmo goes up to the prince and tells Yuri he can’t stop him from working at the factory but Yuri shouldn’t sleep there like the workers, but Yuri says he is comfortable here thus Mopalmo needn’t worry, thus Yuri sleeps in the worker’s chamber inside the iron factory. The group of assassins from Yodong arrives and after sneaking into the Goguryeo palace factory, they kill off the guards and lights the factory up in fire. Musong and Mopalmo arrive to escort the prince out since they can’t let him sleep in the humble worker’s chamber, and suddenly they notice the guards killed on the ground and the fire burning up in the factory. As Ju Mong is out in the courtyard thinking, Mopalmo rushes with news that the factory is on fire and Prince Yuri is still inside.
