Who is Bernardo Carpio?
He’s the original Filipino strongman, our version of Hercules and Samson.
Legend has it that Bernardo Carpio defeated an enchanted creature who took revenge on him by trying to crush him with two enormous stone slabs. Storytellers say that Bernardo is still trapped in that same place, and everytime an earthquake hits the country, the poor guy is only trying to move and break free.

bernardo del carpio is actually a spanish literary figure and a somewhat historical figure measuring up to the great hero El Cid some spanish literatures say that he was a nobleman`s son and in the poem The Song Of Roland he fought and won against Roland and his durendall in roncesvaux or roncesvalles and not a true Filipino hero or king whatever…………
