Pacquiao’s unanimous win over Barrera closes all doubts
The fight lasted all 12 rounds, but Manny Pacquiao proved that he is still and always has been the better boxer over Marco Antonio Barrera.
Tonight’s rematch for the WBC International super featherweight title proved once for all that Pacquiao didn’t just catch Barrera on a bad day four years ago.
In the months and years that followed (the 2003 match), Barrera continued to hold accountable the decision to abandon training camp with 18 days remaining before the fight and this succeeded in convincing boxing aficionados that he might have a valid reason for putting up such a dismal showing on a night he was expected to dominate.
To make matters worse, some quarters made it appear that Pacquiao’s electrifying win was tainted, and that he was fortunate to face off with a man who, albeit physically in shape, was not in his usual mental state.
So now, Manny Pacquiao flies home to celebrate and Marco Barrera flies home to retire.
That’s should say it all.
