This post was just supposed to be a short recap of recent Philippine news, but as it is, deposed, convicted and pardoned ex-President Joseph “Erap” Estrada is figuring in two newsbits. So, an Erap post it is going to be:

Headline #1: INQUIRER.net launches Philippine Elections blog

What it is about: Inquirer has reconfigured its Eleksyon 2007 blog and made it the Philippine Elections blog. Elections aren’t until 2010, but the players are already lining up.

Where Erap fits in: There were speculations that Erap could run again for President in 2010. Thankfully, right on the heels of those speculations, Erap has said that he has no intentions of doing so. I cringe at the thought of another Erap presidency, after all that had happened. I hope to high heavens that he holds true to his word this time, and may we never see another Estrada presidency again.

Headline #2: Former Philippines leader Estrada eyes movie comeback

What it is about: Erap is planning a return to his original arena, showbusiness. The movie is going to be a comedy, because according to Erap himself, we have already cried too much.

And Filipina Soul says: It is where he gained his popularity. Maybe it’s high time that he return to his true area of expertise.
