Manila Ocean Park Oceanarium
I’m so excited to be able to share this news with you! As a biologist, I’m thrilled that the Philippines finally has its own oceanarium.
The state-of-the-art Manila Ocean Park had its soft opening last week, on February 29. It’s gorgeous and truly world-class! Let’s take a tour, via Mel & Joey:
The oceanarium is just the first phase of construction which will eventually include a hotel and mall, and open marine habitats. Already, it has the following sections open to visitors:
1. Agos (Flow) – a rainforest motiff complete with 8 tanks of freshwater fishes.
2. Bahura (The Reef) – exihibition of artificial corals in 48 tanks
3. Laot (Fishing Ground) – features big fish and Eagle-spotted rays in a long tank.
4. Kalaliman (The Deep) – showcases marine animals found in the deepest parts of Philippine waters.
5. Buhay na Karagatan (Living Ocean) – the main attraction of the oceanarium is a 25-meter long walkway tunnel with 220-degree curved acrylic walls similarly seen in Ocean Park Hong Kong, Singapore’s Underwater World in Sentosa, Siam’s Ocean World in Bangkok, Thailand and Kuala Lumpur’s Aquaria in Malaysia. The difference between MOP’s is a 220-degree curved tunnel as compared to the standard 180-degree curved tunnels seen in other Asian countries.
6. Overhang Tank – variety of rays fly over while you’re under this unique Overhang Tank.
7. Pating (Shark) – features several species of shark.
Let’s finish the tour with this second segment from Mel & Joey:
Isn’t it great!!? This is a definite must-see in Manila! The Manila Ocean Park is located behind the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park (Luneta).
Check out this information page for entrance fees, operating hours and phone numbers to the Park.

hello maricar, i sent you and grace an email… the email i sent to grace bounced and i don’t know if you received it. I also forwarded the same email to tips@b5media… thanks
I heard there were always so many people waiting to enter the park, creating very long lines. Better wait for April or May when the crowd thins, then.
Hi Jepoy,
I got your email, thanks. I’m looking into it now.
Hi Gian, Thanks for the tip. Have you had a chance to see it?
we should all go!
Its amazing!!! The CAVA Affiliate plans to tour the Global Village Team from Japan. How can we contact Manila Ocean Park Management for inquiry and booking of visit?
How much is the entrance fee? I’m hoping the less fortunate can afford to take their children to the aquarium?

hi…my family and i were planning to visit the ocean park next week. what would you advise for our preparation?thanks!
hi i’m excited to visit the ocean park. my family and i were planning to visit next week.
magkano po entrance? and pano pumunta diyan? may way ba diyan pag nag jeep? or fx? san sasakay? if you have a map it would be better tnx! i really want to go with my family or my partner…
anu pong oras nag bubukas? and till what time po? wer can we buy the tiket? kailangan pa ba magpareserve?
hello. how much is the entrance fee for student and for regular people?
nga pala wat tym ung bukas and wer kami maka bili ng ticket, para db d n maghanap hahaha sayang oras eh ^^,
I haven’t been to the MOP yet as I plan to go visit when things have calmed down a bit …. lesser crowd and HOPEFULLY more courteous staff as what I have read from the post of remzamora in http://www.ourawesomeplanet.com/awesome/2007/11/manilaoceanpark.html.
I too have seen the oceanarium in HK and even the gigantic oceanariums in the U.S. Yes, I agree that the fishes in the Tunnel are small fish as compared to the ones I have seen overseas based from most of the photographs and videos of the MOP online.
However, the one BIG thing that disappoints me and is very noticeable even in the photographs and videos is the design and seascaping of the aquarium interior. I was hoping to see a more natural effect …. one that mimics the naturalness and natural look of the ocean floor. What I mean here is that in the photos, I can clearly see objects that are man-made structures. The drain on the flooring of the aqaurium inside the tunnel is so clearly visible. In some aquariums, I can see man-made, objects like a ship steering wheel inside … I am aware that the designers are trying to add some sort of “seascaping” (as opposed to landscaping) but those man-made decors becomes more of a distraction to the naturalness of the seaquarium instead of enhancing it. I think that the interior designers of the seaquariums should adopt a more natural and more calming look to their seascaping effort.

Manila Ocean Park is located at the back of Quirino Grandstand.

To all who are asking for the entrance fee, the operating hours and the place/landmark and/or whatever. Read starting from the very top, you should see the answers there. DAMN!!! Mahirap ang paulit ulit…
Woooooiii!!!
im so excited to visit manila ocean park.
magkano po ba yung entrance fee ng kids up to 12 yrs. old then yung adult? then how long to stay? then saan po ba pwede bumili ng ticket.
Administrator – that’s a really cool user name.
he’s right folks, information is found in the post. However, this is NOT the MOP website itslef and we will not be able to connect you with them either. sorry.

Hi guys,
I would like to thank MOP for giving the opportunity to be one of the contractors . as you can see were the one who fabricate and installed all the background made of fiberglass the concept been made by Mr. jeorge lin and leanna manubag quratorial dept.I supply also some of the specie in the thier tanks.hereunder are the areas we fabricate and installed the background ;
AGOS: jungle trek
1. waterweed tank which is eventually made into an oscar tank.
2. A knife fish tank.
3. Arapaima tank. also the 4 giant arapaima gaigas fishes .
4 sturgeon tank.
5. mangrove tank
6.the african ciclids tank
7 the electric ell tank which is located in the upper bridge.
8. the toch pool tank which you can interact with the different specie.
the shark tank -which is the home of the black tip and white tip shark not to mention the nurse shark..were the one who fabricate the coral wall of 5 mt. high and 6 mt. dept,
with different corals also which manila ocean park coordinates with us by putting thier selected corals too.
the crocodile pond -as you can see the specie are not yet found in the pond but they do call
this crocs pond you may take a look at the area with the cascading falls in the rock formation in the wall goes thru, in the pond plus the the 10 mt. log which was laid down in the decking to look more realistic we conceptualize the tree by putting the amazon orange mushroom,to look more also like a dead tree but with a growth and the roots extended to the wall as if thiey were clinging to look more space
to grow bigger and wider.
I am 101 percent that you will enjoy your trip to this oceanarium by looking them you will experience the world that is hidden from us and savour the natures of wonders by protecting them and nourish them also by educating our friend and relatives that their planet existed before our planet.

Is it possible for them to see all the featured places even on wheel chairs? How about for disabled persons? can they access the featured sites? also just like in other sites abroad (OP HK) the management have personnels that assist those disabled persons and elevators.

do you think you can finish it all (constructions)by May this year?
how much the entrance fee??? thanks/….
The Entrance Fee for adults is PHP400 (approximately US$10) and PHP350 (approximately US$9) for children.
hindi pa ganun kaganda pumunta sa manila ocean park ngayon. hindi sulit ang bayad. ours was at 350 pesos kasi may summer night promo sila pag pumunta ka ng 6pm. ang dilim sa loob. bawal ang flash sa camera pero kung gabi ka papasok dun you can hardly see some fishes lalo na pagpasok pa lang. tapos hindi pa nga ganun kapulido na yung mga ibang areas and structures. siguro kung babaan nila like 200-250pesos ang entrance mas okay at hindi ganun kabigat sa bulsa ng mga pinoy. yung mga fishes konti lang at maliliit pa. hindi din pwede magpasok ng stroller for babies at lalo na siguro ang wheel chair. pano kaya gagawin nila dun? tapos yung exit nila you have to pass pa yung resto dun then parang fire exit na hindi pa maayos yun ang dadaanan. yung souvenir shop halos iilan lang ang laman at parang mas mae-excite pa ako mamili sa divisoria kesa dun. hehehe! sorry about this pero yung prices ng paninda hindi reasonable to think na some of these eh dinikitan lang ng sticker ng manila ocean park mahal na agad.
siguro mas maganda pumunta sa 2009 pa. i heard matatapos na daw ito by that time. kasama na din ang mall, hotel at marine habitat. sa time na yung siguro pwede na nila gawing 400 pesos ang entrance. pero sa ngayon lugi talaga ang papasok dyan.
ganun ba… maybe next next next yr nalang…
i’ve read all the comments some are negative and some are not but, despite of all those comments we’re still planning to visit the MOP next month when we visit manila.
Thank God for Manila Ocean Park for conceptualizing the awareness and preservation of our marine environment as well as its habitat; representing how rich is our Philippine waters. It also promotes Philippine tourism and an appreciation of 7,107 islands of the Philippines.
TO: admin office of MOP,
I hope that you have some branches to sell ticket for the entrance of MOP.. because based on the opinion of the others (mahirap, mahaba ang line sa bayaran ng ticket and also mainit…) super nakakainis pala based on them sa pila pa lang inis ka na….). I hope administration of MOP has a future plan.. para maayos ang ganitong problem..
hello there!!! i’ve been in many places like aquarium in europe and us and the pacific well i think ang pinakamagandang na visit ko is in spain sa madrid napakalaki compare mo sa japan in the oceanarium in manila naku its terrible too much crowded hindi ka makahinga parang manga inosente silang nag kukumayog sa aquarium grabe isa po akong dakilang mandaragat nag trabjo sa hollandamericaline isa po syang cruiseline salamat.
Were planning to visit ocean park manila one of this day, ask ko lang po kung may bayad yong 2 year old and how to get the ticket, dapat ba kaming magpareserve.gaano ka taas ang pila.thanks
I hope Manila Ocean Park inspires many of us Filipinos especially our young Filipino youth to be more aware of our islands beautiful fresh water and marine life inhabitants. Filipinos are constantly bombarded by the media telling us how messed up our country is…Lets take a step back and see what’s still left…Visit Manila Ocean Park and learn about the ocean and how it play an important roll in our environment – A collection of Philippine native tropical fishes, corals, shark, sting rays, and more.
Us Filipinos have forgotten about the richness of our land and seas. The Philippine rainforest and sea is truly the only treasure we have left. Lets learn more about them. I dont work for MOP I’m a supporter of Philippine rich bio-diversity. Mabuhay!

Its great to hear that finally the used to be Manila Aquarium (during our times) has finally evolved to an Oceanarium. The fee seems to be cool compared to OZ, NZ, SG, US and the rest. But, I hope someday soon it will be subsidized so that everybody could get a glimpse of it. I have seen almost all types of fishes but it is different “sa sariling bansa ang Pinas!” Wow, I now sounds patriotic hahaha!
Basta isa yan sa pupuntahan ko plus there is a new mall in QC daw which is like a Greenbelt 3 daw. I hope mas dumami pwedeng puntahan sa atin. I hope the DOT will do something more.
wat do u mean of entrance fee for kids na 4.5 ft below ? wat about the 1-2 yrs old kids do they included to kids entrance fee ???? sana naman wala pa
kelan kyo magkaron ng promos / discounts ?

hi po…
i cant even find real pics on internet,,so if if its ok with you guys, can someone send me pictures of “must-see” n ocean park?…pls po……i really want to go there…huhuhu…
hello..it’s quite good i think..
but, this oceanarium would only cater the curiosity of the urban people..
some of the plants are made of plastic..
only rubbles are present in the station where sharks are living.. ok lang xla?.. they are deceiving the public…
some of the species were named incorrectly… that should be taken with caution..
entrance fee is quite expensive…
