Arroyo’s farewell speech

Nah. She’s not stepping down from her Office. Sorry.

President Gloria Arroyo is just leaving for a 10-day “working trip” to the United States. In the aftermath of typhoon “Frank“, the President left this Saturday to meet with key Washington leaders, President Bush and the US presidential candidates.

Arroyo left orders to repair damaged structures and provide calamity funds to affected areas of the flood. The Presidential Airlift Wing was also instructed to fly mercy missions to disaster areas.

Here is a transcript of the President’s statements issued to the press before she left. It’s actually interesting, for those who want to read it. There’s a lot of $$ involved, both in grants from the US government and United Nations, and potential business opportunities with American investors. Arroyo’s goals may be lofty, but it’s to our benefit if she can secure these for the Philippines. Hopefully, the strings will not be too tightly attached.
