Filipina Soul for Students
The Philippine school year is well under way. Classes in schools under the Department of Education started on June 10. All others, including colleges and universities, may vary but not by many days.
The start of classes was always a fun time for me. I love the smell of new pencils and notebooks. The clean pages filled with me with anticipation for the year ahead. The first week especially is an exciting time to catch up with friends from last year, new kids (and possible crushes!) in the class, interesting new teachers, and so on. Unfortunately, or not, depending on how one looks at it, the first week also means the first of numerous assignments that will fill those new notebooks.
If you’re a student and a new visitor to Filipina Soul, you might be glad to know that we have lots of material here that will help you in your class assignments. Here’s a sample of what you can find:
* Need to know the lyrics of the National Anthem? We got that, and a fine rendition too.
* Bugtong-bugtong, marami kaming bugtong. (Filipino riddles, we have a lot of riddles.)
* Information about places in the Philippines like Abra, Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte, Los Baños, and Benguet.
It’s not just about academics, of course. We know students also love to know about the latest and most popular shows and after-school destinations. So we try to keep up to date about Lobo, the Manila Ocean Park, movies, and concerts. We know that you gotta have something to talk about during recess!
If you’re a student, we’d love to know that you stopped by. Who knows, we might even be able to help you with your homework.
