Sylvia La Torre: Queen of Kundiman
Reading Michael Tan’s article “Sylvia and Nora on CD” led me to search for her on youTube, and I saw this one video at her 1998 concert in Westminster, London. She brought the house down performing for Filipinos, and of course, some Englishman as well.
Now hear the Queen of KundimanSylvia use the full force of her operatic voice in this video “Sa Kabukiran“. I wonder if the new generation of Filipino singers can belt it out like she does.
