Survivor Philippine Episode 26: Mud Bath
This week in Survivor Philippines starts with Episode 26, which aired on October 20, 2008. Eleven castaways are left from the original 18. Jarakay has 5 (Charisse, Jace, Marlon, Nikki and Vern) and Naak has 6 (Cris, JC, Kaye, Kiko, Rob and Zita).
Missing a Friend
The atmosphere in Jarakay was decidedly somber after John’s departure. Jace, especially, seemed lethargic and clearly missed his friend. According to Vern and Marlon, Jace seemed to have lost his motivation to do anything in the camp.
At Naak, Cris saw to cooking their meal, as his co-castaways slept. Food was less abundant in this new camp than in the last. The tribe shared a meager meal of rice and whatever shellfish that they could scrounge from their surroundings. In addition to gathering food, one of the castaways’ common activities was washing their clothes and drying it over the fire. It was during this latter activity that Kaye sustained a burn in her back.
Dirty Castaways
This episode’s reward challenge was the dirtiest one so far. Four members from each tribe would gather mud from a designated area, just using their bodies. One other member would scrape off the mud and put it into buckets. The first team who fills 5 buckets with mud will win the challenge. And the reward for this dirty challenge was a basket of toiletries, with soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and the chance to have a real bath. There was a catch, though, the toiletries had to be consumed right there after the challenge.
Charisse and Rob were the mud-scrapers; Zita sat this challenge out. The castaways were almost unrecognizable after their roll in the mud pit. Those with long hair, Kiko included, had an advantage in this challenge. However, it seemed to take a long time for the buckets to be filled.
And… Naak won this challenge, 5 buckets to 3!
