Survivor Philippines Episode 23: The Hot Pursuit
After their feast of lechon de leche, the Naak tribe of Survivor Philippines was strengthened and encouraged for the next Immunity Challenge. They didn’t want to have to lose another of their members to the Tribal Council. Meanwhile, Jarakay also had much motivation to win this challenge and avenge the hunger they had to endure while Naak was feasting.
Episode 23, which aired on October 15, 2008, was the Immunity Challenge. This challenge had the tribe’s six members, tied together and each carrying a bag with a 10-pound weight. The tribes had to run around a course on the water, trying to tag the one member of the other tribe. The tagged person would pass on his/her bag to anther member and be put inside an enclosure. The tribe that tags the last person on the other tribe wins Immunity.
This challenge was a test of strength and endurance, one that was made harder as the tidec came in. The two tribes used different strategies at first. Jarakay ran first, but Naak kept a good pace. Nikki was the first one to fall. In Naak, Zita was the first to fall and then Kaye. Jarakay was caught by Naak after half an hour; they essentially “gave up” Nikki because she was too tired and they figured they would be faster without her.
Charisse was the next to leave, so that Jarakay now had 2 more bags on them. Marlon was the next to be caught. Naak was faster on the water than Jarakay. Veronica got caught, leaving only John and Jace, who aimed to employ stategy to give Naak a hard time. Jace, Jarakay’s hero, was finally left alone, with 60 pounds on his back. He gave it his all, but in the end he was caught.
Naak wins immunity!
Kiko expressed his respect for Jace, for not giving up even till the end. Marlon wondered aloud how his teammates could lose their stamina so quickly.
Jarakay turned their attention to their next meal. Marlon continued to be the cook, chopping down bamboo and cooking their rice. Naak’s new camp proved to be less abundant with food than their old one. That night, they had rain so none of them slept.
