Survivor Philippines Episode 24: The Challenges of Camp Life

After Naak won immunity at the last challenge in Survivor Philippines, Jarakay went back to camp nursing their disappointment.

Episode 24, starting with Day 14 on the island, was aired in the Philippines on October 16, 2008.

Jarakay discussed their loss. Marlon expressed his amazement that his teammates did not have enough stamina to win, and that he could have gone on. His words were, “Talagang natunaw kayo kanina.” (You really melted earlier). It did not go down well with Jace and John, who were in front of the team.

Naak had to contend with pouring rain and cold that night. Kiko and JC stayed up to tend to the fire. Kaye, meanwhile, said that she had seen someone in a white shirt and khaki jeans behind their camp (a ghost? but most probably a staff member, IMO). Still, spirits were high in this happy family of castaways. Day 15 dawned and the tribe worked on improving their camp, amid lots of laughter. Cris applied the skills he learned from helping his parents build their home in the Philippines.

In Jarakay, alliances seemed to be weakening. Charisse and Marlon said that they didn’t know who they would vote for in the coming Tribal Council. Rain added to their misery. John, who didn’t have a shirt on, was feeling the cold even more. Remember, he had a medical emergency a while back. Vern and Jace expressed their concern over John weakening again.

Naak’s Zita, Rob and Kaye walked along the shore to gather shells for their food. Rob and Kaye had  a special bonding time as they went about the task (with holding hands, pa!).

Cris and Rob looked for coconut trees to bolster their roof and walls. They thought they saw gabi plants, but Zita said that it’s the decorative, not the edible, type.

In Jarakay, Marlon was hacking bamboo to use for cooking when the bolo knife he was using slipped and cut him on the hand and foot.

Cris and Kaye relaxed by playing some games. JC borrowed Kiko’s journal to write down the foods he had been craving for and that he would enjoy in Manila again. He also planned to get a scrub at a spa and a visit to the dentist.

The misery of their existence in the island was compounded by the numerous biting insects. Shot after shot was shown of the castaways scratching and of the wounds on their skin.  Charisse said that she wanted to burn the entire island just to get rid of the insects; and that she was scared of the long-term effects.

Jace said “Yung kati, sobra, hindi pa ako nangati nang ganito. As in, pagkatapos mong kumamot dito, kamot ka dito, Sunod sunod yung kamot mo”. (The itch is over the top. I’ve never itched like this before: after you scratch here, you scratch there. You’re scratching nonstop.)

The preview showed Vern talking about someone not making an effort, and just combing her (?) hair.

Survivor Philippines Fan Question: Who do  you think will be voted out in the next Tribal Council?
