Survivor Philippines Episode 28: Letters to Home

Episode 28 showed a recap of the previous episode where Marlon and Jace were bonding by the beach. Back in the Jarakay camp, Jace admits to having lost his motivation to find food or help out. He figured it was because of stress and mental fatigue. But Jace’s inactivity was interpreted a different way by Marlon, and that Jace was just feeling too important to help out. Marlon was the one who was working to maintain their camp.

For this episode, the tribe’s treemail brought good news to the castaways. They were given paper and pencils to write to their loved ones back in the Philippines. They related their experiences in the island. It was a special time for them to let their families know how they were doing and that they were ok. Rob called it one of the best activities they have had. Kiko burnt the edges of his letter to make it look like an ancient piece of paper.

Zita became very emotional when she talked about writing her letter to her children. In fact, she was emotional when she was writing her letter. She said that she missed her children terribly and was just thinking of her stint in Survivor Philippines as a job at the end of which, she will have her day off and she can see them again.

Jace expressed how hard he found life on the island, and “how much it shakes us”. Vern proved to be a good friend to him, continuing to motivate him to keep his spirit up. Jarakay was getting worried about how many of the challenges they have lost.

As they had their meal, Jarakay’s spirits were starting to pick up, even though it was raining. Rob and Kaye were shown as a promising couple. Kiko said that Kaye is different with Rob than she is with the rest of the tribe. “Panay asim” (all sour) with the others, but all sweet with Rob. It was again all fun and games for the Naak family.

After the rain, the castaways had to deal with biting insects, which were in abundance in the island. Charisse’s skin was shown briefly and she was indeed covered in bites and lesions. It was one of the hazards of island life.

Kaye talked about some of the experiences, like having only two pairs of clothes and having to dig a hole to go to the bathroom.
