Survivor Philippines Episode 31: The Happiest Day

Last week, at the end of episode 30 of Survivor Philipines, it was hinted that this would be the week of the merger between tribes Naak and Jarakay.

Episode 31, which aired on October 27, 2008, opened with Naak discussing the Jarakay tribe. Kiko said that he valued a tribe member’s positive attitude toward the tribe more than his usefulness.

After the Tribal Council

The guys of Jarakay talked about how Jace had looked much thinner. Kaye and Zita said that Nikki had wanted to leave the island and might have asked her tribe mates to vote her out.

In Jarakay’s camp, the remaining members discussed how the coming merger would affect them. Jace was confident that JC would cross over to his side and join him in an alliance.

We were given a glimpse of daily life in Naak. JC, Kiko and Cris spent chatting time on the sand. Rob predicted that Kiko, JC and himself would be the final 3.

In Jarakay, Marlon, Vern and Charisse complained about Jace’s inactivity around the camp. Marlon said that Jace had become worse than Nikki. Jace reasoned that he had been thinking of the merger and his strategy. Charisse talked of voting off Jace, but Marlon said that he would pick Charisse off first.

Upon their next meeting with host Paolo Bediones, they were asked to drop their buffs and receive new ones. Naak and Jarakay were now one tribe, Chalam (“shark”)! The castaways were overjoyed at the news. Their new camp was going to be the old Jarakay camp.

A Feast for Sharks

That day, they didn’t have to face any challenge. Instead, they were to be treated to a sumptuous meal! This news was met with even more rejoicing.

They had mechado, chopsuey, ginataang hipon, lechon kawali, halabos na alimasag, kare-kare with bagoong alamang, nilagang manok, dessert and cold drinks! Each announcement of the food was met with loud cheers. They could even bring back to the camp, whatever they did not consume.

Jace said that he ate so much that his tummy ached. Charisse said that it was their happiest day on the island so far. JC said that he will never eat that much again: almost to the point of being sick that he could not move or breathe for being so full.

Over the meal, the new tribe discussed how they will enlarge their camp and bring over Naak’s shelter. Marlon and Vern commented on how they saw Jace smile again. Charisse pushed on to eat even more, even though she was already full.

Almost immediately after the meal, the strategizing began. Jace approached JC, but JC said on-camera that he will protect his tribe, especially when the person who asked him was someone he doubted.

Survivor Philippines Fan Question: Who is the person that JC doubts?
