Survivor Philippines Episode 32: New Tribe, New Strategies?

On the previous episode of Survivor Philippines, the new tribe Chalam was formed from the merger of Naak and Jarakay.

In Episode 32, which aired on October 28, 2008, the focus of the new tribe was on improving the old Jarakay camp to accommodate 10 people. Cris, Marlon, Kiko and Rob went back to the Naak camp to haul the shelter to its new location. Marlon was all out in trying to prove to Naak that he was a good person to have around. In his eagerness to help, he was cut on the hand by piece of bamboo, and went to the ocean to wash it.

Loyalty and Faith

JC arrived and took advantage of Marlon’s temporary absence to talk to his former Naak tribemates about the strategy that Jace was going to use, and how each of them will be approached to switch allegiance from Naak. JC was upset that Jace singled him out as the most probable one to join the former Jarakays. The others assured JC that Naak will stay strong. Kiko said that he had faith in Naak. Rob said that his former tribemates were in a red alert mode.

Back in the camp, Jace assured Charisse and Vern that JC was 100% with them, and that the three people they will vote out in turn were Kiko, Rob and Cris. But Jace also said that Marlon was a problem, a “Mr Know everything na ayaw makinig” (… who wouldn’t listen). When the rest of the guys arrived with the shelter, Jace ran to help them carry it.

Kiko and JC talked about how they would be able trust the Jarakay members after everything that happened. Kiko said that Jarakay was looking to destroy Naak through JC, but that he had great faith in JC. Most of the castaways talk centered around trust.

Jace seemed to have found new life after the merger. He took the initiative to choose who it was they will vote out. He told Marlon not to talk to Cris, and to “just go with the flow, kapag may sinabi ako sa iyo, trust me na lang”. (if I tell you something, just trust me). He promised Marlon that they would last, upon which Marlon pointed out, “Ang dami nila” (There are more of them.). But with a devious look on his face, Jace countered with, “Yun ang akala nila.” (That’s what they think.). Jace then told Marlon about his talk with JC.

In a talk with Zita, Kiko said once again that he had faith in Naak, and that his home was that they will not forget what they went through together to get to where they were.

A Chalam Party

That night, they enjoyed the rest of the lavish feast they had right after the merger. Then they were given an extra treat of beer and wine. Under the influence of the drink, Cris became emotional because he really missed his family. Though the others had a drink or two, Marlon was the only one who got drunk.

Survivor Philippines Fan Question: Will the former Jarakay be able to lure one away from Naak?
