Vigan, Ilocos Sur – tourism information
We’re not done with our ‘tour’ of The Heritage Village that is Vigan, Ilocos Sur. There are still more interesting touristy places to see and fun things to do, but I just want to point some links for visitor information and accommodations.
GETTING THERE:
The two means of travel to Vigan are by land and by air.
By Land
The 405 km stretch from Manila to Vigan is a comfortable seven hour ride along the scenic Ilocos Highway. Partas Bus Co., Dominion and the Philippine Rabbit Bus Line regularly ply the Manila-Vigan route.
By Air
Laoag International Airport is serviced thrice a week by Philippine Airlines to and from Manila. Public transportation is available for trips from Laoag City to Vigan which is 80 kilometers or 1 1/2 hour drive away.
Once you’re there, the best and most leisurely way to get around is by calesa or horse-drawn carriage, but you can also use the tricycle. Get a travel map to help you navigate better.
HOTELS AND PLACES TO STAY:
There are many ancestral homes that were converted into ‘bed and breakfast’ hotels and pensiones around Vigan. Here is a list of hotels, with telephone numbers and the amenities included.
