Survivor Philippines Episode 35: The Ninth Cast-Off
In the previous episode of Survivor Philippines, the former Naak and Jarakay members were still going full blast at their strategizing to get the other tribe voted off the island.
In Episode 34, which aired on October 31, 2008, Rob showed his compassionate side when he talked to the others that he wanted Mommy Zita to win. Rob wanted Zita to have a good life, a life that he still had the potential and time to work for.
Kiko shared with JC that he was worried about Rob holding up for the tribe. A number of the castaways were already thinking of the final three. Jace said to Charisse and JC that he was excited for that night’s Tribal Council. Charisse confided in Kiko, about her fears and how she believes Jace is not deserving to win Survivor Philippines.
Chalam Goes to Tribal Council
The Chalam Tribe made their way to Tribal Council. Host Paolo Bediones called them the best of the best, as the final 10. Charisse shared how she found it easy to relate to former Naak after the merge. The castaways recounted their joy upon learning of the feast they enjoyed after the merger.
The atmosphere changed when Rob was asked how the castaways prepared for the merger. Rob said that the loyalties prior to the old Naak were important, and how “it’s everybody’s ball game”.
Paolo talked about the Jury that was going to be formed. When asked about who deserved to win, Kiko and Marlon gave conflicting answers. Kiko said that the winner should be someone who gave his/her all without compromising values. Marlon on the other hand said that it’s OK to play a dirty game.
Of her immunity win, Zita compared her win to Manny Pacquiao. Jace and Charisse expressed their admiration of Zita.
Paolo talked of certain bodily exposures that have happened over the past episodes. Both Vern and Kaye have experienced wardrobe malfunctions during challenges. They both said that they really did not think much about it during the challenge.
Castaways in Review
Before the Tribal Council, there was a review of the past month at island, showing the challenges. For a recap of all the episodes, visit our page on Survivor Philippines 2008.
The mechanism of voting in the Tribal Councils was explained. Any castaway who had possession of the Immunity Necklace could pass it on to somebody else. The castaway who was voted off would sit on the Jury, who will determine the winner of Survivor Philippines. Each remaining castaway was then highlighted in turn, showing both previously-aired and new clips.
The 9th Cast-off
Back at Tribal Council, Zita was asked who she would give the Immunity Necklace to, if she would. Zita said that she was the one in danger of being voted off, so she would keep the necklace for herself.
When voting started, Rob was shown saying “we will eat and eat and eat and eat a lot when we get back to the city”. Charisse voted for Kiko, saying it was the hardest vote she has had to make in Tribal Council. Kiko, as expected, voted for Jace.
The voting was a contest between Kiko and Jace. And the ninth castaway to leave the island was Jace, 6 to 4. A clear vote along pre-merger lines. Naak was still strong.
