Survivor Philippines Episode 38 (11-5-08): A New Group of Five
On the previous episode of Survivor Philippines, four members of the former Naak tribe were taken off the island to mingle with Thai villagers. Marlon took advantage of the four’s absence from camp to try and turn Cris and Kaye over to his side (Jarakay’s).
Episode 38, which aired on November 5, 2008, opened with JC, Kiko, Zita and Rob enjoying Thai food with the villagers. They made themselves useful and helped the villagers in their business of making a suman-like delicacy. One of the vilager’s daughters gave Zita a native ankle bracelet.
Back at camp, Cris and Kaye talked about their position in the tribe. It appeared that Marlon’s talk had had its effect on Kaye. Kaye admitted that she wanted to win and that she and Cris were being used. Off to the side, Marlon grinned, as he could see the fruits of his scheming.
Cris aired out their disappointments and frustrations with Kiko calling the shots. It seemed that there is now a new unspoken alliance being formed, which aimed to vote off either Kiko or Zita (and eventually both). They didn’t want to call it an alliance but wanted to “even out the playing field” to remove those who were making the decisions. Kaye and Cris admitted their hard feelings about being left out of the inner core of Naak’s alliance. These five agreed that their alliance would last only until the strongest among Naak have been ousted from the island. Marlon said on-camera that his fears of being the next one to go home were allayed, and his chances to win have again increased.
The next day, Marlon and Charisse talked about voting off the four and then starting a “clean” game anew. Everyone now wants to win the P3 million. And everybody now wants to grab their chance at the pie. Charisse’s outlook toward Kiko has shifted, and she viewed him as one who does a good “sales talk”. Vern said that, though they had an unofficial alliance of five against the four, she was still not confident.
The four enjoyed their first taste of civilization in weeks, with full and delicious meals, decent toilet facilities, and real baths. At their bath, both Rob and Zita used feminine wash as shampoos! The four castaways left one of their hosts with bracelets and promises to return. They were also given small gifts to take with them. But the memories they had made were the best gifts they could have been given. Not just a few tears were shed as the castaways departed to go back to their island. As the boat sped away, Kiko wiped his tears away, and longed to have shared the experience with Kaye and Cris.
