Survivor Philippines Episode 41 (11-10-08): The Black Pearl

The previous episode of Survivor Philippines ended with the results of the Tribal Council left unknown. Episode 41 is where we found out who got voted out. Was it Kiko or Marlon?

After a recap of last week’s events, we watched the voting once again. Kiko, JC, Zita and Rob voted for Marlon, as expected. Marlon and Vern voted for Kiko. Kaye, a member of the former Naak tribe, voted for Kiko, a result of Marlon’s scheming when four of the castaways left the island for the night.

It only remained to be seen whether the entire former Jarakay and Cris also voted for Kiko, which would eliminate him. If another person got a vote, it would mean a tie between Marlon and Kiko.

The votes were counted. When Kiko got four votes to Marlon’s three, Marlon was shown looking really smug. Then Marlon and Kiko were four on four.

The last vote, for the 10th person to leave the island, was Kiko. Marlon smiled at Kiko’s departure. Kaye shook Kiko’s hand.

Kiko’s Black Pearl

Host Paolo Bediones gave Kiko a black pearl which had a ‘curse’ and would add one vote against a former member of Naak. Kiko gave the pearl to a shocked Rob.

Kiko said that he could have given the pearl to Marlon but he needed to teach Rob a lesson.

Paolo told Rob to take care of the pearl, because if he did not have it at the next council, two votes would be added against him.

Emotions in Chalam

Back at the Chalam camp, JC was upset at Kiko’s departure, while Rob was livid about Kiko giving him the pearl. Rob had followed Kiko’s instructions about whom to vote all along. Rob threatened to get back if ever he and Kiko were ever together in the jury. Meanwhile, Cris used the scene to pretend that he wasn’t the one who switched votes. Kaye and Charisse shed tears off in a corner together.

Marlon admitted that he was very happy when Kiko got voted off, because he feared Kiko’s intelligence. In front of the others, Zita admitted that she voted for Marlon. “Bahala na si Batman”, were her words. Zita realized that the game was political. Zita was also confused why Kiko gave the pearl to Rob.

Marlon thanked Charisse for answering his prayer and letting him remain in the game.

Kaye asked Cris whether they did the right thing. Cris assured her that they did. Kaye asked him whether the all-boys alliance was still strong. Kaye said that she was still solid-Naak, but she voted the way she did to make it fair for everyone. Cris said that there were no more alliances.

Marlon congratulated himself for his scheme’s success, beyond his wildest dreams. Rob observed that Jarakay feasted on Naak’s demise, and Marlon most of all.
